I can play all air related instruments fluently. I'm just getting the hang of air vocals too.

I'm working on something similar right now for my house. I'm tired to having to drive to the studio to record and I have a habit of not quite remembering my original idea later when I try to play it again. So pretty soon I will be able to record at home. I have most of what I need....I think. I will run a guitar through a Roland GR-55 synth to a Fender Hotrod Deluxe and then to a PreSonus Audiobox USB and then into an off-line computer. I think it should work that way. I'm waiting on the GR-55 to be delivered any day now. I will then have our guitar guy install the MIDI pick-up on one of my guitars (it needs to be pretty precise) and I should be ready to record. The amp is mostly just for me to hear. The GR-55 has guitar and amp modeling so you can get just about anything you want for a sound in that regard. I don't know if the Fender will affect that or not but I'm just going to experiment for a while.

Anyway....if you're interested....check out some GR-55 videos. That thing looks awesome! Super stoked to be getting one.

    The blues, mostly..

Haha, I only just got it so I don't know. I've learned a bit of 'piano man' and 'love me do' which has been fun. I also have a keyboard, a guitar, and a ukulele. Master of none. I youtube songs to try to learn but I'm pretty bad. I'm focusing on my studies right now, maybe after I've finished my degree I'll step it up a bit but for now they're just for fun.

I'd like to get a violin and a flute. I wish I'd picked up an instrument when I was younger.

are there enough musicians here to justify a subforum? probably not, but that hasn't stopped a lot of other subforums. not to mention the personal forums.

I wish I knew how to play a harp. I used to have one and I messed around with it but I'm pretty sure one of my kids swiped it. Very cool if you can play it though.

i would hazard a guess, that there are enough people who can play some kind of musical instrument, read sheet music, and or sing or run a sound board, to justify a subforum just about anywhere.

(i thought heart of gold was a space ship with an infinite improbability drive)

I also have a mouth harp, I tried to play it but you just can't play it softly, so it's a bit embarrassing. Though doesn't really matter what you do it sounds decentish.

If its just to remember ideas a portable little recorder would do the trick. I have a looper now but that just loops small patterns. Id like to record a whole track on rhythm then listen to and play over it to add synth drums bass n lead guitar

Im more of a recreational musician than a pro or entertainer

It is to preserve ideas but I also want to record songs. I write things that will probably never be used by my band and I've been considering doing a solo album for a few years so I can do the tracks at home now.

If you want to record to play over, you can probably download something that would do the trick. If you want something bigger than you have for looping....the GR-55 will let you create an entire song but you can probably find something more affordable if you just want that feature.

AND....as I was about to post this....the GR-55 was delivered! I'm pumped. I took it out of the packaging and my wife saw it...laughed and said "See ya in 4 or 5 days?" I'm off to play...catch you cats later.
