    No seriously. It's a thing.

The most laid back, slowest growing religion in the world

Any others out there on hipforums? 'cause it's gotta be, like, the most hip of all religions

    Is hippest a word? I don't know.

I thought this was for people who worship The Big Lebowski.

    From wikipedia

"Dudeism is a philosophy and lifestyle inspired by the protagonist of the Coen Brothers' 1998 film The Big Lebowski. Dudeism's stated primary objective is to promote a modern form of Chinese Taoism, outlined in Tao Te Ching by Laozi (6th century BC), blended with concepts by the Ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 BC), and presented in a style as personified by the character of Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski, a fictional character portrayed by Jeff Bridges in the film.[1] Dudeism has sometimes been regarded as a mock religion,[2][3] though its founder and many adherents regard it seriously"

    Hmmm...learn something new every day.

Some hippies turned into Yuppies, in fact most hippies turned into yuppies. It was no longer the honestly portrayed system that was confronted for something better; just the lied virtues seen for democratic-capatalist ones. Is that the system in Russia, but looked at from the top down?

There are those of us who turned into yuppies but maintained that hippie philosophy----maybe the yuppie period was a misguided period in our lives, somewhat, or a learning period----I mean the 80's was the 80's, what can you say------but nonetheless there are those that remained true.

I for one was a securities analyst and Assistant Vice President for Shearson Lehman in Tokyo-----but despite my tailored 3-piece suits of some of the finest European cloth, my rolex, and the fact that on weekends I dressed as if I was a detective on Miami Vice-----I still had shoulder length hair.

Jerry Rubin (co-founder of the yuppies) kicked it all off by saying true freedom also requires economic freedom---so you know, man.

But here I am again---as hip as can be.

i believe in every neat fun invisible thing that has no desire to be feared and isn't at war with anything.
just not in the idea that anything human knows jack about them.
bullshit artists have been writing books for thousands of years.
gods or god-like beings, should they happen to exist, i'm sure would get along just fine if no one ever had.
i'm being too objective in that lest statement.
yes i believe at least one god exists.
but still basically owes nothing to what anyone believes.

(oh dudests, i thought someone said diests. as little rosanna danna used to say "oh never mind")

no i'm not into personality cult things, that's one of the things i see wrong with christianity, that there's so much of a personality cult thing about it.

I know some people who didn't found it funny or a good movie at all, they really didn't understand why so many people do. I am one of those who sees the brilliance in almost every scene and dialogue and would almost call myself a dudeist because of it. I also think some other Coen bros movies are utterly fantastic (Oh brother.., Fargo for instance). I guess it is in the way they perceive their characters and the world they are in and how well they bring that across. Then it still is a matter of digging that style, humor and exact approach or not of course. I guess I just really dig their way of putting down a scene, atmosphere or character (generally the combi of those things).
