lol enjoy wtf toys? like what action figures or stuffed animals? that actually sounds pretty chill, but I on the other hand love kids lol

I had my job before I got them but my boss kind of expected it, and everyone within the franchise like the auditors and the health inspectors have totally overlooked them. My buddy in Victoria has three jobs and she's got dreads, she's only been turned down a few times too.
Do what hellodreadhead said (wow big rhyme lol) just be confident and professional and clean. You'll get one eventually and you'll probably feel better working for someone so openminded.

I'm turning in my application at Applebee's tomorrow night, seems like a fairly guaranteed job. Think I should dread my hair before I go meet the guy I'd be working for tomorrow, or after? Or does it not even matter?

Fuck, I'm getting really pissed off at my parents over this whole job thing. I don't have my license yet, so I'm starting to take care of that now. I also don't have a car. But my parents won't let me use theirs, won't buy me one, and won't lend me the money (like 1000 bucks, which I would easily make over the summer) to buy one myself. Pretty much they're just not supporting me at all anymore. I got my grades for the semester the other day, 4.0, and I told my mom, and she said congratulations in a way that sounded like she could give a shit less, and then instantly went back to yelling at me about getting a job. for some reason she thinks that I should constantly be out applying to places even though i've put in like 5 or 6 applications already. i really want to move out even more now, but because of the car situation it's impossible.

Hey hope it all goes well for you, but us parents sometime get tired of supporting kids that should be off on their own, good grades or not. I'll admit that I've said the same thing to my kids. If I gotta go to work every day to support a home, food, cars etc., it is easy to get frustrated with a child over 18 that sits around, sleeps late and eats the food that I've bought. A little touogh love never hurt anyone.

I have no idea what you situation is or if you are lounging around while dad and mom work, but I was just giving a counterpoint from the perspective of a dad who has told his son to get a job.

    Good luck.

Dude, I've been home for 1 week exactly, I'm doing my best to find a job, and they're still not helping me out in any way, especially with getting a car. The best offer they have is to drive me to and from work, but from my perspective, if I get a car myself, it makes their lives easier, and mine.

If they have offered to take you to and from work then use them till you can pay for your own car and then go from there but you need a job first.

Priority 1 should be your income, 2 is your license / car and 3 is moving out.

This shit just keeps getting worse. It's gonna be goddamn impossible to leave this summer.

I have a pretty much guaranteed job at this point. A friend of a friend is selling her really old car for 1000 bucks, and might be willing to have me just pay a deposit. I should be able to find a cheap apartment with my friend if necessary.

I have to take my prelicensing course before I can take my road test to get my license, but that's gonna cost me 40 bucks. Of course, my parents are not willing to loan or give me the money to take it. I wanted to take it with my friend who's doing it this weekend so I didn't have to sit through it on my own, but now it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. FML.

Just walk in there and show them who's boss

    Be like

"I'm here and i'm gonna start tomorrow! What time do we start? 9:00 AM you say? I will be here at 9:30"

    yeah just like that

    again =]

as for the sorting the life out... get the job, save some cash, sort out the license and all that stuff. this may be a bad option, but is there no sort of benefit you could recieve while youre looking for work? or something to help you towards the cost of things that you dont have to pay back..

youre parents are right in my opinion in not helping. mine dont, nor do i want them too, think about how much more satisfying that car will be if its your blood sweat and tears that paid for it while you walked your ass to a job you hate. it makes you a better person in my opinion

Life is a struggle at every level, the sooner you learn that, the more successful you'll be.

Give birth to and nourish all things without desiring to possess them. Give of yourself without expecting anything in return. Assist people, but do not attempt to control them. This is how to realise the deep virtue of the universe. :grouphug:

That would be great if I was in FL right now, but I'm home with my parents, in a tiny rural town in upstate NY. There aren't any places in town hiring, and the next closest town is a 15 minute drive away. The job I'm looking at right now is about 25 miles from here.

There is no bus here. I don't live in a city, I live in a town with maybe 3,000 people in it.
