well, if you are only paying that much, SAVE SAVE SAVE! clip coupons, pinch pennies wherever you can. my lil brother got screwed big time in his first apartment because his longtime friends continually 'forgot' to pay their rent. big fiasco ensued. PS if you want to save on electricity, unplug damn near everything when you arent using it. i even unplug my coffee pot when im done, our monthly bill is like $50 and everything but the furnace and water heater is electric. we have the tv/entertainment stuff all on surge protectors so we just click them off at night or when we leave. we live in a third floor apartment and it gets pretty warm up here, we have fans on all day and there is no noticeable change in electrical usage. its convenient since its $780 a month and only hubby is working. plus they said if he moves into the next pay bracket he'll not only have to pay more, but they will make us switch apartments. what a load of horseshit.
