Granted this is from my yahoo pages, but I got a chuckle out of this: "In an authoritative report ..." Just look at the first half of that first sentence, already, they are the authority and no one else knows anything, apparently... Any way, it goes on to say that hotter temps are leading to more danger. Scare tactics to me, all reports are negative these days. I dunno about warmer temps, with freezing rain and snow falling in DC on March 30.. http://news.yahoo.com/un-science-report-warming-worsens-security-woes-053717873.html How are things where you are? "Hot enough" for you?
all part of nature's way of attempting to correct an imbalance between the populations of species in an environment. and you know who's must vulnerable in a mass extinction? the top predator, that's who. and guess who that is.
I believe every place can have its unusual weather patterns. It should still be hot over Australia but the East side temps are coming down. almost frost in some parts. I don't think it means all weather danger reports are false, just strange things happen some days. It can be warm here one day, blanket snow an hour later. =p
In other words, they have things called "scientific credentials". Yes. That the reports are negative doesn't make them not true. Stick you head in the sand if you want to. Don't be retarded. An increase in average global temperatures does not mean that there will not be snow or cold winters ever. It does mean that billions of cubic feet of sea ice will melt, and that in the worst case scenarios of global warming, half of the worlds human population could be exterminated.
I find it funny how some people act like science isn't biased and that scientific "facts" cannot be manipulated or altogether made up to meet an agenda. While we are being beat over the head with global warming hysteria, evidence suggesting global cooling is being suppressed. And if parts of the world are indeed warming, there is absolutely no consensus on it being caused by humans. The most solid evidence I have seen suggests solar activity -- not greenhouse gasses -- being the cause of any warming in temperatures which might be occurring.
I don't think many of the "facts" in science are too factual at all. They tend to come up with some bizarre scenarios without the technology to even study what they're trying to accomplish. Then they come out with a big statement that sounds like it has a little bit of realism value but that doesn't really matter because at the end of the day no one can really study it either and nor does anybody really care. I'm speaking of scientific things regarding the universe mainly.
Data itself is measurable and reproducible. To some degree, data can be interpreted in different ways. However, an overwhelming majority of climate scientists agree that: 1. Average global temperatures are rising 2. That human activity is responsible for that rise 3. That the consequences of rising average global temperatures is potentially catastrophic Rat, you believe that the holocaust was just a hoax and you believe that fluoridated water is part of a government conspiracy. I don't think that this is a message that is going to get through to you. This is pernicious nonsense. Scientists have studied global warming extensively. If there is some hazy, poorly evidenced aspect of scientific understanding, it's not the facts related to global warming. here's a video I've been watching, some of you might like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcVwLrAavyA"]Discovery Channel - Global Warming, What You Need To Know, with Tom Brokaw - YouTube
Yeah I wasn't having a dig at global warming, I do believe in it. More so the other space weather stuff and what goes on out there. Now back to tempers, most people talk about the "winter blues" but I get the summer blues, man. When it's cold I'm alive and happy, I'm excited to greet the morning and crunch my feet across the frosty grass. In summer I wake up sweating, go to work sweating.. sweating all day then come home to swear, have a shower and sweat and then sleep sweating.. It drains my energy the heat does and my mood swings are quite noticeable. I'm irritated when in direct sunlight and irritated when there's no breeze or air con near me. I sweat a lot =[ makes it look like I'm busting my ass when needed! but I don't like it.
17 in 2000? Are you sure this is a global measurement and not just the carribean It seems Somalia alone has already a lot more! For the rest it seems very plausible.
I'm genuinely curious as to what the suicide rates look like in my area, as compared to other years. It's been that kinda winter here.
