I didn't say he's a Nazi, only that he agrees with several of their policies and went to a veteran SS meeting to honour them. As such, he is pro-nazi. I sincerely hope he will never become more influencial in Austrian politics...
But still, it means that people agree with his politic. I'm glad he hasn't got anything to say at the moment, as well.
yep.. about 30-40 times I guess!!! lol.. I live in Italy, in south tyrol (or, better, I used to..since now I am in Denmark, but going home in 2 months..).. which is at the border with Austria! I like there.. as well in my Heimat... those mountains are great.. I adore trekking and sleep at 2.500 meters!
Well, there are always people with, let's say, strange opinions. They will never die out, unfortunately... I think the Austrians elected a new president recently who is from the social party, so there's hope for this country
The other thing when it comes to politics is...populism(spelling?). I hope it's not going to happen in Austria, but look at UK, Tony Blair is from Labour Party and they used to be left wing and now, well you know what's up in UK...And Hitler's party was Social-democrats which sounds like a good, left-wing party but well you know what it was like... I hope it nevers happens again, neither in Austria or anywhere else.
Hitlers party was the "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" (NSDAP), which could be translated with "National-socialst German workers party". The social democrats, the SPD, were his strongest enemies...
Sorry,I just checked in here for the first time in a couple of days. Does anyone know the Krimml area? My aunt lives about 5 minutes from there. I stay with her for about a week every year. ~C
Not only the Krimml-area, the whole region around is great for motorcycling. Any other bikers here, who love to ride in the Austrian, Italian, Swiss an German mountains like me? How about doing a ride together?
oh yea, my mistake, but still nationalsozialistische German workers party, doesn't that sound like some more communistic party would? At least it does so in my eyes.
I've only seen Austria throgh a train window, several hours through the Alps every time I went to Italy and back (makes 4 times). Looks a bit like a postcard, doesn't it? It's all great and stuff, but I'm not that much into mountains, I need the SEA - more a northern type here. "I'm guessing you're Austrian/American - by the pure arrogance of your unfair judgement." - same level, isn't it? I have to admit I feel offended by what you wrote, couldn't believe that! You wrote you'd never say anything like that over another person's country, especially not in front of that person. So what was that?! Not only saying something about the country but about the people living there in such a prejudiced way... Sorry Schatzi, aber damit bist du bei mir voll untendurch.
Well, in German, "sozial" has not the same meaning as "communist" The name "National socialist German workers party" had just something for everyone... For the (often rich) nationalists, for the socialists, for the workers, everyone had something to identify
I didn't wholly agree with Flowerian's statement either, but actually, I don't know why it even riled me so much..........
