I have a bunch of various wooden beads kickin' around, and I'll be making some glass beads as soon as I get the larger sized mandrels (hopefully within the next couple weeks)

Ceramics and glass :D Unfortunately the uni doesn't allow me to try lampworking due to health and safety blahblahblah so I'm gonna have to fork out a load just to try it :( Ahh well, I really do wanna try it so it will be worth it :D Does anyone, bcmama, have any good sites/ UK shops specialising in lampworking materials/equipment?

Lamp working and torch work are a form of working with glass using a torch to melt down rods & tubes of glass to make jewelry, pipes, etc. It is different from glass blowing where you are taking molten glass out of a furnace and shaping it.

I haven't really looked for ones in the UK. I try my best to buy Canadian, but it seems most of the glass we use comes from US distributers, who sell it to the small Canadian companies that we buy from.
Do some googling, you should find alot of info and shops in your area.

I was the one who sent you the blackwalnut bead Soaring :D

I can try to dig up some threads with pics of some beads I've made. I've sold a few on here. I have a lot I've already made, of different' types of wood and different shapes. I can pretty much make any shape. It will be the weekend before I'm back home and can get a good look at what all I have left.

When my dreads were littlens I made a tonne of fimo clay beads :) I'd really reccommend making your own- the blocks of fimo clay are really cheap and last for ages :)

Or Alternatively I could make some and considerer selling them... Ohh business plan xD Let me know if you are interested xD
