I have a brian that works here and he is far from scary. In fact he is very funny.

If Serbia had their way in the 90's that entire Baltic area would be considered part of Serbia. Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, even parts of Romania would be within their borders, but nope, Clinton wouldn't allow that and he needed to set up puppet governments all over Eastern Europe. So, naturally Serbs and those who consider themselves from Montenegro don't get along, that's because of their past. And I'd rather have Dalmatia be part of Croatia then Serbia/Montenegro, but Serbia would aid in anything that would be detrimental to the Croatians...well maybe not under their new puppet government (Tadic and Cvetkovic) both fools if you ask me, serving foreign agendas.

My baba and all her friends that came here (U.S.) during the Baltic conflict still think that Dalmatia should be independent, but then again they are older and probably have WAY different views than the contemporaries living there. What I said was more of a joke than anything.....I know that's now even possible, you should talk to my baba sometime, she'd give you a whole different spin on what should be going on in Eastern Europe. She's kinda crazy though.

Umm...I think we should stay out of the whole Croatia/Serbia thing. I cant really be objective, I'm sorry. And I certainly dont want to argue. Its pointless.

 

Oh, I agree, sorry if I ever came across as wanting to argue, just wanted to have some fun at the expense of Dalmatian/Croation unity. The entire topic of the Balkans in the 90's is very controversial, but that's just war, there's atrocities on all sides, it's just never a good thing. Damn man's unnecessary violence, it causes so much grief and suffering.

Your baba would probably get along with mine, that is if she's at least borderline crazy, because although I was joking about just about everything I said in regards to Dalmatia etc.....she really is crazy and that is no joke.

Hahah, that sounds exactly like mine, only rather than being traditional Orthodox, she's Catholic. Is your's Orthodox?

I don't speak either fluently thats for sure, but I know a fair amount of the Cyrillic alphabet which they use a bit of in Serbia, most of what I know is from Russian though, as I had a good friend from Russia that taught me a lot. My baba uses some random terms, some that I've come to understand and others that I still have no idea what she's talking about when she says em. I love different cultures and languages though, I speak pretty fluent Spanish (so many different dialects though!), but I'd love to learn croatian or at least some, being as a large portion of my family is from the Dalmatian coast.

Umm....Croatian and Serbian are pretty much the same. NOT exactly the same, but if you know one, you'll understand the other one too.
Different accents, but same words.

 

brian will be so disappointed to learn that there are other brians in the world. i'm sure he's convinced that he's the only one.
