I dunno, I don't share his view dreads but I think tenshi has hit the nail on the head regarding dread elitism.

course my dreads are lyk waay better than his so I tend not to listen to him at all

I guess I didn't see this as a discussion about dread elitism until he brought it up. The OP is asking for a timeline of natural dread progression... not about the culture.

The only place I find dread elitism is in this forum. lol But then again I do not have anyone in my life that has dreads.

I think so too :cheers2: but I also agree w daisy-oy! SE should be able to post without getting crud thrown at him. Especially if it's in a thread abouut natural dreads. It's something he's passionate about, so whut?

No, not because of that sentence. Anyone can read the post and get the general tone of it and I'm sure you can as well. I don't think I'm looking too deeply into it, I think its obvious. And as I said, it wasn't meant to be disrespectful and I didn't say it in a disrespectful way. I was just suggesting that SE be a little more open-minded to differing views. I respect SE for doing his dreads the natural way, he's living proof that you don't NEED to backcomb to have dreads. I think everyone understands that point. I think what he should understand is that you don't NEED to go the neglect method to be proud of your dreads or for them to be "legit". I think its obvious that SE looks down on people that formed their dreads in any other way than neglect and that's obvious from his posts. Its fine to hold the opinion that you think that method is best... I'm not arguing with him holding that opinion, as he's entitled to it, but I don't agree with the attitude that accompanies it. What other's have said in response to his posts has nothing to do with me. I'm just voicing my thoughts. I think if multiple people have voiced the same thoughts, then that's all the more reason that he should be considering what people have said.

Once again. No disrespect for SE, or you or anyone, no disrespect for any method that anyone chooses... I'd just like to see that same amount of respect from everyone in return. SE has amazing dreads, everyone knows that, but the road he took to get them isn't the only road that leads to that destination. Everyone has their own path to take and no one person's road is "the high road". That's the only point I was making, please don't misconstrue my intentions.

The dude is asking about neglect dreads! lol Where did SE disrespect anyone in his post?

Saying "no disrespect" and then saying something disrespectful doesn't balance each other out. It's like when my freakin family says "just sayin'". It's as if the disclaimer makes everything they said all better and void.

    fun fun fun

I think SE was fine in this thread. I just prefer to keep a more open-minded view on people, their dreads, and their methods. I have learned tons from SE and I have respect for him and his dreads.

funny then, that an answer was given about the culture rather than a timeline, I merely responded to that answer.

I have quite a few friend in life with dreads. I think we're all just happy to see more people with dreads and don't really care about how they went about getting them.

"this whole new instra drewad backcombing fad"

    "fashion dreads"

"maybe preffer isnt the word id guess most would insist its the only acceptible route"

you're absolutely right daisymelan, there definitely wasn't any stigma attached to his post at all... I must have just imagined the entire thing.

what did I say that was disrespectful? I don't think I said a single thing bad about SE, I just said he shouldn't look down on other people for their choices is all... what's disrespectful about that?

Exactly Luxie! I feel the same way. Dude can't post in here without someone "correcting" or merely replying to what he has posted. Just wish he could post in here without someone calling him out every time.

Ah well, back to real life. :cheers2:
