MartNorth, You have a nice layout, I hope to have a small set-up like that in the future. I have limited space but plan on a few small beds. nice post.
We have a small garden with some of the basics: carrots, corn, green beans, lettuce, pumpkins. I want to expand next year though. Something ate my lettuce before I got a good barrier up but that kept growing back. Learning curve.
Have a few cucumbers and radishes, so far. Corn not so good but will get a few, can't wait for tomatoes only a few more days. rabbits liked green beans, so they didn't do good. Still learning also.
For a cool we t summer mine did ok. Celery was the biggest flop, least it seemed that way after last years 3foot tall stuff. Onions and potatoes were plentful but small and cabbage heads were smaller. Tomatoes, peppers and cukesmwere good, in the heated greenhouse. Both freezers are full so good enough.
I looked at the English translation of the name Beethoven . Seems perhaps it may be " the flower garden is home " .
I'd like to get a garden going this year. It's been a while since I tried to grow one. I've had issues with critters eating my tomatoes, or either getting too much or not enough water. Those issues, and I hate weeding it. I essentially just listed all the reasons why I probably won't get a garden going this year. Hahaha! Maybe I'll just stick to tomatoes and peppers in 5 gal buckets.
Too wet to get started on my garden, but I will be working in it soon! I Love working Nude in my garden!
You're such a tease! I'd help you garden, we'd get dirty no doubt, planting the hard stuff with you so wet!
I've had a few planters with morning glory and nasturiums hanging on the laundry line for a few weeks, they dont seem to mind the nightly dips below freezing (really only 4-5 hours at worst lately) Thinking they may be my "Go light" for other things, once they pick up speed a bit other stuff will get a running jump at germination time instead of idling around waiting for it to be warm enough
I have a small garden space since it's just myself eating from it, but still I end up having surplus to give friends and neighbors. What suits my needs is usually one cherry tomato plant, two larger tomato plants, two rows of onion, and two rows of assorted pepper plants. Then last year I built a 4 ft x 8 ft herb garden as well. I plant garlic, cilantro, dill, and basil.
