Okay. Here's the deal.I got a telly. Then got rid of it...Then got another telly...And got rid of it...Why? The adverts drive me crazy...Blinking computer graphics and portraying people like they are mindless simpletons - patronizing mindless drivel - like you must buy our new car that looks like an f-ing penis - aren't we all so happy now we have 100 flavours of yogurt.So..In the UK we have the BBC...The good old Beeb. And they stream their stuff online - and you can catch up on old stuff...The Beeb has no adverts because everyone pays a license fee...Some people don't pay and risk a fine...That's beside the point.Problem solved...I can watch a bit of good quality Telly on my computer and not be subjected the the hypermanic commercial stations...Nuff said.

    I hear yah...

The problem now iz that they stream commercialz on your computer now... Itz horrible you try to get away from the advertizing and be left alone and they follow people ... The advertizing online generally lockz your computer down until itz complete and then you have to go and pay for some "advertizing destroyer" or something. They need to leave people alone and stop; if I want to buy something I will go and buy it; dont force thingz on people

I worked in an institution in W. Germany back in the early 70s: I watched TVs residents had in their rooms.

They all liked Am. TV shows: reruns of Star Trek (called there Raumschiff Enterprise) & The Partners. German TV had a public affairs show on Sundays, where the panelists drank wine & discussed the days' events. There was a good deal of nudity on variety shows, usually for titillating effect. Haven't been back since then, but I doubt German TV tastes have changed much.

The missus & I watch TV @home these days, but most shows are propaganda, which I like to define as personal opinion goes public. There's a show we like on the Weather Channel, Coast Guard Alaska, but it's only on for a few weeks; then it disappears.

I can't stand watching television. Ever since trying mushrooms the first time I just laugh make remarks about how stupid it is when I'm with my friends. I can't believe that they actually get offended, like it's heresy to talk bad about a show they like. Plus the amount of commercials just irritates the shit out of me. I can't believe people even still watch that shit... EVER.

Oh you sure won't miss anything important, it's TV! :D

Since I left my parent's place to live on my own at the tender age of 17, I never owned a tv set. At first I was feeling kinda weird about it, but soon I realized it felt very liberating to stop being exposed to the mercantile circus, propaganda and human drama on a daily basis, and never looked back.

    Never. Ever.

    No. More. Idiot. Box.

It really chokes me that sometimes I go to friend's places and they insist that we should sit and watch TV

seriously considering dropping the whole "TV" thing. I don't see the benefit and it's seriously unhealthy for my brain and my health. I've got so many better things i could do with my life. But my brother never turns it off, and it's kinda hard to not sit down and get zoned into the show he's watching. It'll take some will power.

Haven't watched TV for about 10 years now. We buy the occaisional DVD, but mostly we spend our time working on our farm. Once in a while I look at the news on the internet, but it really serves little purpose so I don't do that very often.
This forum is about as close as we get to a social life.
Just have other things more interesting to do. Don't miss the drivel on TV at all, and the internet is getting pretty ridiculous now too, so it probably won't be long and we dump that, and just turn into hermits.

Noooooo! My wife insisted on getting the TV working for the Olympics, though in general, we don't know if it's functional or not. But you will get me off the Internet when you pry my cold dead fingers from the computer keyboard.

Not very often. Only glimpses of what others are watching.

My entertainment at home mainly consists of being on my comp and sketching or painting.
