Yeah on the outside that shit's annoying, but the best friend I ever had was kinda one of these people.

He made fun of my Tie Dyes I made fun of his upside down visor. Card games were always interesting.

I hate these white suburban teens that live in upper middle class families that try to act like poor ghetto kids. My entire town is filled with them, it seems as if nearly everybody my age is like this. All i see when walking home from school is a bunch of wanna-be's playing dress-up and acting "gangster" they don't understand how ridiculous they look from another point of view. I'm sure others judge me as well, but i'm the furthest thing from "gangster" at least, i take pride in that.

Why is it that society must always idolize and compare itself to its lowest standard? Why can't our youth (my peers) idolize those that do great, rather than these rappers and criminals. It really is a shame.

This thug and gangster mentality came from the ghetto but was exploited from the music industry. Plus you can't blame young kids these days. They don't understand the roots of what they represent and they are just trying to come up in the world. They want to be tough and fit in, they want to impress the girls, they want authority...but they are not old enough to vote...just give them time they will grow out of it.

Firstly, Thugs, Gangsters and Hustlers are not the same. They are all different words that do mean something completely different. Don't think they are one in the same because they are not. I've tried to explain this to some people who grew up in nice enviorments and they simply don't understand that their is a side of life where people are poor and will do anything for the bread.

A thug is someone who will do anything it takes to help their family, friends and themselves get out of a living situation and move on to a upper part of class. You must understand doing 'anything' in a ghetto enviorment could mean, stealing, getting into a fight (that at times involves guns), running from the police, and constantly being around hoodlums with 9mms and ak-47s in the house closet. Lots of young individuals lose their lives in the thug life. All these thugs just wanna come up and get out of the ghetto streets.

A gangster is someone who while living in the same poor ghetto street conditions as the thug, has no regard for other peoples lives. In a sense you could look at a true gangster as a sociopath. They don't care who they shoot, pick on, steal from or kill. When you are in the presents of real gangsters its fucking scary. Don't get me wrong, you don't want to fuck with a true thug. A gangster to me should be feared, a thug should not.

A hustler is someone who will do anything to make a deal. Usually the best drug dealers are hustlers. They don't care for guns, they are not feared by any means, they just wanna make a deal, get you high, and they be on their way. Of course a true hustler should never be trusted because they will always try and take advantage of your ignorance to make an extra dollar.

The problem is how the music industry exploded everything. It has sent a wrong message to society, back words really.

The reason for the big cloths now days and pants hanging down your ass is when it started in the 80's (might have been late 70's im not 100% sure), was when you come from a poor family you can't simply go out and buy the cloths you wish, you get hand me downs, or cloths from the corner store than are under $2. You take what you can get.

Also prison life has played a huge role in this thug/gangster mentality. I think it was the early 80's though im not certain...might be as early as the 70's.. the prison guard didn't give belts to any of the black immates. They gave them to the whites, not the blacks. So the blacks had to walk around holding their pants up, also known as saggin. Saggin the pants (which is still used as a term today but what i have learned over the years is many people don't understand where the word came from, and at times they are representing the very thing they are hating on) and the guards only laughed at them. Well in a way it turned on them because if you take saggin and flip it, it says Niggas.

So yea that 17 or 18 year old kid living in the suburban street with clean running water and a roof over their head that doesn't leak with the many christmas presents on X-mas day, acting and talking all tough...yea they look like fools. You can't put all the blame on them because of the society they are growning up in. Society says only read the last 10 pages in a book, forget about from start to finish, we will tell you what the book is about (the media fules on this)

Don't hate on a thug man, you gotta understand where they coming from. Sad thing is the life involves guns and the innocent can lose their lives. Thugs just wanna get out of the ghetto, and ya can't blame them for that.

"just because you strike a pose in some pretty cloths really don't mean you an automatic criminal, you can fool the average joe, they don't really know, how a real nigga will let the motherfucking trigger go"

Hey I'm a hippy but a gangster. By that I mean a businessman. Has nothing to do with a ghetto or where I grew up. I sold weed at an alarming rate enough to have to become a "thug" but I still believe in peace and all. Just sucks there are scumbags out there.

Skating can still be a lot more useful.

You can carry a board anywhere, it won't get stolen or have parts ripped off while you're in buildings, it makes a mean self defence tool, a portable step stool that will get you onto or over many things, entertainment......
