I know I can't do anything about it. I just hate when things are left in the past, people age and die, etc. You know? Kinda blows.

I end up missing things and people.

Maybe the constant change in society (mainly fueled by technology) can make it seem more foreign and colder quicker?

    Seems that way maybe.

Just thinking about it is all.

Yes. I was just thinking about the change in all the relationships I've had. Like friends, family, etc.

That's a good thing.. I mean I think it's people aging/dying that gets to me most.

You know, the idea that people "have their day" and then get "past it" and eventually die... just kinda sad.

I wonder if Bill Hicks is right that we're all one and there's no such thing as death. I really hope so :)

When you know enough dead people you start to build up a wall so it didn't affect you as much. I got a call yesterday that I will be attending my 8th funeral of 2013.

This is going to sound bad but I don't think I've ever been to a funeral...

The last relative I had who died was back when I was still pretty young, so I didn't go.

    Hm. That's a strange thing o_O

Consider yourself very lucky. When I was 15 I went to 5. My mom, grandma, great uncle, uncle and dads best friend. That year sucked. Have consistently gone to funerals since then. I've probably been to more funerals than birthday parties. I crashed a funeral this year. Surprise! I'm your long lost niece that you didn't know existed! It was my biological grandfather. I met him once for 90 seconds before he slammed the door in my face.

I don't understand what you mean by "having their day and getting past it." Each stage of life, infancy through elderly, offers new challenges and rewards. It's sad when you see people give up on life but that's their choice. I know people in their late 80's who still life a full filling life every day.

Death is a natural part of life and is not something to be feared. As Jim Morrison put it, "Death is our final great adventure." I've learned to celebrate the lives of those lost instead of dwelling on their deaths. It's not always an easy thing to do, especially when it's someone who went early in their life. I think it helps that I believe in an after life.

I agree. I prefer to celebrate their life rather than mourn. Don't be sad it's over. Be glad that it happened. I believe in the afterlife in my own way also so although my mom died 19 years ago she is still very much with me every day.

I guess I have two issues on this kind of topic...

    a) I really am not very confident that I believe in an afterlife... maybe.

    b) I understand the body a lot now... we COULD live forever I think if we took good enough care of it... and maybe regenerated parts. So like... death is optional lol

With that in mind... I dunno, I guess I wish I never had to go - I would soooo live forever if I could ^_^

Perhaps an idea like death could be optional is making it only more difficult for you? I myself find it pretty comforting that death is a certain thing for everybody. Not that I wish it on everybody or something, or am waiting for it eagerly myself :p but accepting that it's an inevitable part of life makes it somehow easier for me.

I sympathize. It must be a real bummer believing that there is nothing more than this.

I look forward to death. I don't want it to happen any time soon ofcourse, I want to live a long life. But I want to know what happens next. I want to cross that line and know what no one in the living world knows.

I don't know, actually, it's not really a bummer. I don't really fear death... I don't want it to happen any time soon, but I'm alright with it. Gives me more of a reason to want to take advantage of the time I have and do something with it.

I find it plausible that your individuality might absolve after dying and 'you' wouldn't know anything anymore. But happily I don't know either, so I always like to quote Hendrix here and say see you in the next world (don't be late) :cheers2: Be late though :p

Death can indeed be a good motivator

But does no one living, not know. Youi hear the stories of people who have died and crossed over only to be revivied and come back and tell us of the bright white light. Our precious children who have said they have seen angels or sat on Jesus's lap when they had passed and came back. These kids are way to young to come up with stories like that on their own.
My daughter has told me of seeing angles when she had her kidney surgery when she was very young. I for one do beleive in the after life and also look forward to it. Still not one to rush leaving this one behind though.
