When leftist political elite invest in costal property in areas extremely vulnerable to sea level rising. Why should we take their alarmism seriously when they don’t take it serious themselves?

My reply to you cut short, it should have read:-
Google worldwide uses more power than the output of a nuclear power station, 95% of which ends up as heat. The latest servers are built offshore and the heat is dumped directly into the oceans. The remainder use cooling towers. This picture of the coolant pumping room on the top floor of a new server building in Finland, gives some idea of the scale of the problem.

A bit larger than the cooler on your PC.

    5-Google–Hamina-Finland.jpg

This is one of the hundreds of rows of client servers that it cools. I seem to remember that this one is a youtube video bank.

that is because it is. While laws are put in place that completely ignoring people like me and people who can only be called canadian, there is a discrimination here, by the government that has been destructive to a culture, and a Canadian culture that is completely disregarded. Canadians/aboriginal, or a combination of both as the least of the priorities. Liberals, Pierre Trudeau was the worst for this and bringing it out and what we see today for native people on the east coast.

it didn’t matter what background you came from, it wasn’t reserved for white women, any woman from anywhere. You gained status while people like me remained nothing, while people like my dad, grandmothers. Grandfathers were nothing. It bothers me. So I can’t stand people grandstanding, using identity politics in this country. I can’t! Why should anyone else be able to?

I just don’t care. Don’t care about the carbon tax grab, I am not the only one! It is bs. Simply don’t care! Don’t want to pay it either! No choice!

'You're a liar': Indigenous people voice anger at Trudeau town hall in B.C. - CityNews Toronto.

You will read there native people saying carbon tax is a money grab in that article.

The 1969 White Paper of Indian policy was Pierre Trudeau government's attempt to formally integrate First Nation's people into mainstream Canadian society. Integrate us, more like Destroy. The White Paper's lead purpose was to abolish all legal documents that had previously existed, including (but not limited to) the Indian Act, and all existing treaties within Canada. Jean Chrétien was made minister of Indian affairs, he worked on The White Papers with Pierre Trudeau, became prime minister later and was very involved in, Jean cretin I will call him, was prime minister when the oka crisis happened. T he left has been the worst thing to happen here in my opinion. Special rights for French! I say no special rights or consideration! None for anyone of you! I don’t care about carbon tax, I don’t care about the health and well being of people outside. I will only care about me, and those I love, which most definitely do not, in any way support trudeau and his cronies. Work with you he says! No! Churchill falls in Labrador! No that money goes to Quebec. The injustice that the left have brought about, the tax grabs, land grabs has been disgusting. I could go on about newfoundland and what happened there as well.

Taxes have been abused, people have been abused and are slaves!

I say fuck the carbon tax, but I have no choice, liberals took that voice away!

living in a so called 1st world with 3rd world poverty. I don’t care about global warming. I just don’t care what the agenda is, that the government wants to make an issue of. Not my problem anymore. I will not be told what I should care about or how you believe I should think. I will not be told who to believe either. I won’t be told! Maybe one day the left will get this through their heads. Maybe governments will! But I will say obama was no better than Pierre Trudeau.

Do not push your will on anyone, Do not talk to me about moral compass, what you believe the world should be like. What you think I should care about. Your dream is a pipe dream and not a peace pipe one!

very interesting, and our oceans are warming, the ice is melting. Maybe this can be blamed on the internet... the excellerated rate. Is there several in northern Canada?

Did you know that nuclear power stations reactor cooling dumps 70% of energy from the reactors into the sea. That is why they are built on the coast.
When you divide the world output of nuclear power by 30 and then multiply it by 70, you get a figure for the amount of heat (in megawatts) dumped into the oceans.
Then convert to calories and divide by 84 (latent heat of fusion of ice) and you will get the quantity of ice that it will ultimately remove from the ice caps. It is thousands of tons per hour.

I have raised this point several times to people as high as the IET (UK institute of engineering and technology) and all they do is offer me a cup of tea.
I cancelled my fellowship of the institute, since it was costing me £1,000 per year, so now they don't have to listen to me. Is anyone really interested in the truth.???

Since energy can neither created or destroyed, while wind-power looks like a safe alternative on the surface, it is still converting kinetic energy into heat, as well as absorbing the trade winds that affect rainfall inland.

Are we all-set to turn the entire planet into a combination of deserts and swamps, where the oceans will ultimately meet the deserts.

Is it any wonder why so many scientists and engineers end a in a bar with a bottle of whisky in their hand.

Canada has a different kind of reactor, it is called the CANDU reactor. They use a diffuser to spread the warm outlet water over a larger volume and limit the effects on the environment. modern CANDU designs are capable of using cooling towers instead. Anyhow, it is a lot safer for all concerned, now this was developed in my province, it was a crown corporation, but of course the left gave the rights to a private company in Quebec. So something that was once the people’s, is now In the hands of the French. SNC Lavalin. If you know anything about snc Lavalin and justin trudeau s coverup, the shady things he did, you might get why I don’t trust the left, as well as the things pointed out above.
You are in the uk, correct? When trudeau sr. Brought home the constitution from the uk, with treaties, he basically left it in the middle of the Atlantic.

For the life of me, giving the history of the left here in Canada, and other places, I don’t understand how people can fall for this again and again, Believe anything they say. What the government gives they can and will take away on the left. I mean, how many hippies supported and thought well of the Pierre Trudeau? Completely blind, even today as to what is actually going on. Because they believe the bs they are fed.

Yes wind farms are bad too. They also destroy the natural beauty that surrounds it.

when you vote left, you vote against people, people like me. Canadians! You vote against aboriginal, native people in this land. You vote against English speaking canadians. You vote against Canada, you vote for the Socialist UN with their own need for world control and their self serving, un checked form of government,

These modern reactors and their cooling can have huge local advantages, but the heat is (and cannot) be destroyed. While the path to it affecting the ice caps is more complex, the problem still exists.
Nuclear power as a whole is additional to that on the planet, so their is no simple answer. The whole world seems to be putting it's head in the sand.

Their is little doubt that nature controls the energy that reaches us from the sun, so all we can do is hope that it will compensate for the heat that we are adding.

In the early days of nuclear power, plans were made for whole towns and cities to be heated by the cooling water, but this never really materialized.
I believe that Chernobyl used this system, but I am not sure.

No they did not use the CANDU system, if they had, what happened there would not have happened. Same goes for Japan.

That is not quite true, both disasters were caused by incompetence on the part of the staff running them, so making things more complex may have even made things worse.

i am certain that if staff from countries such as Canada or the UK were in charge, neither of these accidents would have happened.

The series of events in Japan truly denies belief.
Water in the diesel tanks (a crazy design in the first place) prevented the emergency generators from running when the storm brought the overhead power lines down supplying electricity to the coolant pumps. This happens all the time with lorries on our motorways and an AA patrol can purge the water out in about 15 minutes. No one even thought about that option. Perhaps nuclear engineers don't have a clue about how a diesel engine works.
Although the generators were still running, their voltage was wrong to run the pumps. A £5,000 delta star transformer incorporated in the design would have solved the problem.
They designed a power station that blows up in event of a power cut. It is hard not to laugh.

right, they were but were not candu reactors either. If they were there would have happened. neither had a containment building and a vacuums building. No graphite, just water, the water doesn’t burn. They don’t have an auto shut down. Candu reactor has all three, no graphite. The moment things go wrong in a candu reactor water turns to steam, when that happens it automatically shuts down. In a candu reactor the water comes in at 40 f and leaves at 46f. Or 5 celcius and leave 8.5 celcius. No radio active material in it. By law it can’t have any. There is more radioactive leaks by burning coal or oil than there is in a candu reactor.

Both of the accidents happened when the reactors were completely starved of water. Things became serious as the water within the reactor boiled and critical when it boiled dry.
Can a candu reactor survive these conditions.?
Don't forget that even when the boron rods shut a reactor down, it takes several weeks and tens of tons of water to bring the fusion down to safe levels.

In a nutshell it was similar, although the initial fault was in the high pressure system where water is turned into steam to drive the turbines. This caused a safety valve to open to relieve the pressure.
Once this happened, the entire thermal output of the reactor needed to be dissipated by the cooling system. As expected, as the water got hotter it expanded, thus opening a pressure relief valve in the cooling system. Unfortunately this valve jammed open, thus preventing waterflow from being maintained.
At no point did the reactor run dry, but part of the high pressure system (that was now dry) melted.

In a sense, reliability has its own problems, since relief valves never operate and can become faulty, particularly when it comes to correctly closing again.
It is a bit like you using a car that has been sitting in your garage for 15 years without being started and not expecting any problems when you drive it up to Scotland.

right, and they, candu reactors don’t use graphite, which is flammable. The entire thing shuts down and it goes into containment the containment chamber which is huge and it is cooled. Did you read the links? It actually shuts down in 2 seconds, completely, candu reactors do. Things that Chernobyl and Japan were missing were containment chamber, cooling vents and auto shut down. So we had people hear nuclear, and a lot of hype as well regarding clean water being put into the water, at a slightly increased temp. The fear of radiation in the water, when it was a non issue. .Coal heating releases more radiation, also pollutes, same with oil. It is impossible to explain this unless you understand it, I don’t mean to sound disagreeable here, but all I can say is read up on how it works, decide for yourself. :). Talk to scientists or whoever you need to, in order to have a full understanding, I mean you thought that Chernobyl and Japan used it, when what they did was the opposite. :)

everything can fail, has potential to destroy something, Everything is trial and error. I do know that containment chambers work. Have been tested. Do I like the idea of nuke energy, not really but I also don't really care all that much. I am alive, reactors can be shut down quickly and it is contained in the chamber, is released slowly as well. Fusion is explosive and can destroy too. Everything is a destruction, nothing is perfect. Maybe we need to go back to rubbing two sticks together, then no one will find fault,

Selafield, England we learned graphite burns and you can’t put it out.

Anyways, it is more expensive to build, governments don’t care! It comes down to the buck.

Graphite cannot burn without oxygen, it is simply crystalline carbon, a midway point between charcoal and diamond.
It does however conduct electricity and this is where the misconception came from, since current passing through it allows it to act as a heating element and glow red hot, even in a vacuum.
Back in the days when stage spotlights and the screen illumination in cinemas came from carbon arclamps. feeding the carbons was always a problem. Some engineers used graphite to lubricate the slides. The problem was that the powder ended up across the electrode insulators and as current passed, in conjunction with the 6,000 degree K temperature within the arc; the whole lot exploded, injuring many lighting engineers and projectionists.

I don't know the composition of graphite compounds used inside a nuclear reactor, but it must either contain an oxidizing component, or be supplying electrons to take part in the fission reaction.

It is such a pity that fusion reaction cannot be perfected. 30 years ago, many people thought that it would be the future of aviation. All aircraft today (except military) design engines that "bolt on". I have little doubt that they are looking to the future.
I wonder how the world would react to the idea of planes having mini nuclear reactors hanging off their wings....... Just a thought, :yum:

Airplanes could be old news. Hyperloop - Google Search

Hyperloop is a sealed tube or system of tubes through which a pod may travel free of air resistance or friction conveying people or objects at high speed while being very efficient, thereby drastically reducing travel times over medium-range distances.
