I don’t know the solution here, but I would think Stopping the gouging and tax cuts for using more fuel efficient planes would be rewarded, but if you can’t afford new fleets then old planes that don’t meet the standards has to be maintained. A plane has to dump fuel before landing often as well, Planes are designed to land below certain weights. A heavier plane is more likely to hit the ground hard and get damaged. So they calculate it, the amount required for the flight. If they burn more fuel than expected then there could be a problem, if they don’t burn enough they have to dump to make a safe landing without damaging the plane,

 

Price of gas is the lowest it has been in 30 years as well here in Toronto. 80 cents a litre. This is a huge drop, considering a couple of weeks ago it was over a dollar per. People are going to start filling up and hoarding it. This might have happened through the government which can and in some provinces set a cap or a minimum. The government can step in, set prices here in the events of natural disaster. I think this drop is based on the corona virus, somehow. Airline prices will drop in hopes of stimulating the economy.

 

No point in hoarding petrol (gasoline) in Australia. For small engines it is only good for four weeks. Cars a bit longer.A car engine running old fuel will just run a bit rough.If too old it will not start at all.

When people in Canada do not have fresh drinking water and are poisoned by the water they do have, and our government does nothing, but will give in aid to others supplying fresh drinking water, then I just don’t care. When a government intentionally keeps provinces poor while enriching others outside its borders, then I just don’t care.

I have travelled, probably more than you. I doubt that you have personally seen poverty or experienced it, and simply see poverty on a screen. Australia too has some extreme poverty. So does the USA. So does South America. Yeah, I just can’t concern myself with everyone else or the give to Africa, give a shit about Africa. help the children. Play on my sympathies, be understanding of your funding when you don’t supply funding for your own country. Their Africa’s government should do better, There are plenty of children who need help here. Need food & water. So Canada presents itself in a propaganda manner, which toots the best healthcare in the world, not true. Everyone is living in luxury, not true. For a country that can not supply fresh drinking water, when it has the largest supply of fresh water in the world, there is a fucking problem. 15 percent of the USA lives in poverty. Don’t you have a problem with this? That is 16.4 million. I suggest you leave your tower and open your eyes to what is in your own backyard. Clearly you don’t go to impoverished provinces, town that are living in terrible conditions and struggling in Canada. Just stay in your nice hotel when you travel and don’t see beyond the bubble.

ok, seems that is what so many Canadians do, close their eyes to it. Don’t want to face reality. Pretend that life in Canada and the USA is perfect but pointing the finger at other places as in need. That was 16.4 million children in the USA living in poverty by the way, not including adults. I lived in the country in Manitoba directly next to the Rolling River Reserve. Half the kids in my school were indigenous in ancestry. I know all to well the conditions some Canadians in. I am absoultely ashamed that Canada has what amounts to 3rd world countries right here in our ultra rich Palace of a nation. The politics here are complex, but I am absolutely ashamed of it as a Canadian.

well I am canadian too. Indigenous is the UN term, here we are aboriginal or native or even Indian. Or can we go with our tband association? The forms to fill out were for the mans side only and grandparents, my grandmother, my dads mother was also native. It was useless, the government made sure that this just disappears. While the French within Canada in DNA tests can be French Canadian, there is no English canadian Results on those test. if they find native mix, you get to be French Canadian, not Métis. My cousin got this test. I refuse as many others do as well, who know they are of native people. Unrecognized. These tests are government subsidized. Don’t define me, don’t tell me who and what is important. Don’t tell me what I am! Native women and men also hid this for census in the past.

3. white women who married native men gained native status, even in the 80’s and 90’s. What did this do? What role does a mother play in the raising of their children? What happened when a native woman married a man classified as white, even though he was half? Both of them are just swallowed up and lost. forced into a society that never accepted them.

I do not care about global warming anymore. Yes it is the responsibility of each individual to decide what they will do, and not for the government to abuse the funds and tax us more when they never had any intentions of addressing the issue. That is a major issue. No one is forcing the government or inquiring into how the government plans on using the tax they added on, or where that money is going.

Google alone use more power than

Few people realize that HAL (Heathrow Airport Ltd) employ more than 76,000 staff. This includes security, and air operations, including a police station and fire stations. Some of the gate staff are payed by the airlines that they represent. The operation is so large that they cannot buy electricity from a supplier, so they have the cost of distribution networks, as well as transforming and regulating the 11,000 volt delta (without neutral) supply that they obtain from the national grid. Sewage is a major problem and due to the distance between the buildings and the sewer (in Bath road) they need several pumping stations. The sudden use of toilets when a flight lands is a problem unique to airports. This is mainly because as the last passenger leaves the toilets, their is a period during which the sewage stops in the pipes. I helped with designs to overcome this, since it is also a problem in large cinemas and theaters.

I can totally relate to this as an American. Being American has, in a way, become a bad word here too.

 

What does that have to do with global warming? Would that mean that it's real and the wealthy are disproportionately responsible? I agree. But it's more corporations and not a person who had a high paid government job and money from book sales and public speaking. You seem to think wealth only exists as the expense of the planet. That house is not going to be worth as much one day. But that's his choice.

Private jets pollution is not much compared to the real polluters. It's not efficient travel but people don't have any choice. The right wing likes to have a double standard. Global warming is not real and you don't need to do anything about it. But when left wing people don't do anything they should have driven an electric car. The world is dependent on fossil fuels that is the problem. By your standards people would have to live like the Amish. Addressing global warming is not that.
