i love trees! oak, maple, pine, cedar, willow, mmmm. . . i just adore them all! what is not to like about a tree? it provides, shelter, comfort, shade, and you can even chill out in it branches!
why cant people just not be rude? how hard is it to just be nice and not make yourself look like a jackass?
such harsh language coming from a fucking tree hugger are you seriously in love with fucking trees? trees grow to be cut down or burned down to make room for the important things, like a garbage dump, or a mall
I love trees. I'm currently working with a few plants right now propagating them to make new little trees and would LOVE to continue to hardwoods and trickier species when I have more experience. I feel alive, safe, warm and calmed when I am around them. Do I hug them? Sure. But mostly I run my hands over the bark or touch their leaves. The most powerful feeling in the world is resting my forehead against a tree trunk, little or small. It may be strange for some, but for me, it's incredibly healing. I treat a tree wound the way I would treat any open wound on a human, and it physically hurts badly to see broken branches especially with sap running, when tips or parts are blackened by some misfortune. And I do celebrate the birth of a new successful plant like I would with the birth of a human baby. It is beautiful and brings total warmth. As much as it pains me, I do see the use of wood-products, and I do prefer wood materials over other kinds like plastic also. Especially if plastic isn't biodegradable (terrible!). Like some people say a prayer over animals killed for food, I too say a prayer for the trees. Joy to trees and all the plants.
SAVE THE PLANET http://jimcolyer.com/@tracks/20/lofi.mp3 We're floating on a grain of sand in the vastness of space If future generations are going to inherit this place We've got to Save The Planet Do something while there's still time Save The Planet This earth is yours and mine The tropical rainforest is disappearing more everyday We'll never replace it, we'd better not burn it away Save The Planet The wonders of nature are free Save The Planet Have you ever planted a tree? If the skies are blue And the oceans too Isn't this a better home for me and you? If the air is clean And the land is green Wouldn't you like to be part of this lovely scene? solo I'm thinking of the animals that once roamed the African plain Their numbers have dwindled, pretty soon none will remain Save The Planet Do something while there's still time Save The Planet This earth is yours and mine Save The Planet The wonders of nature are free Save The Planet Have you ever planted a tree? I love nature, can't say i've ever actually hugged a tree though. After reading this thread I think I might try it. Always thought of a tree hugger as a state of mind
Hugging trees is fantastic. i live on a university campus and there's a couple of wooded areas at the north end. I often go there to hug trees and write poems or just my ramblings. There's something that really makes me connect with nature - i can't explain it and i dont need or really want to explain it. I like things how they are. My college at the unversity is built and based around a 200 year old oak tree. We often go out and sing and dance. I think most people just sing and dance for the sake of it but I do it for tree.
I heard that in Lausanne (a town in Switzerland) they've got a kind of municipal system so they bring the young kids (2-4 years old) in a forest outside the town and each kid plants a tree. I don't know if it's true but the idea's fantastic! Anybody heard of that?
Check this out: http://www.athensenvironmental.org/projects/global_olive_wreath_proj.asp Its such a cool idea and its raising global awarness. What more could you want?
I live in the woods and I just love bonding with trees. "Old souls" as you may see in my gallery. When I hug one, close my eyes, I just feel this energy going through my body. You can really see alot, too. Little bugs on the bark. Stuff you'd never see otherwise. I travel to a place with a completely different climate, and the trees are very old there. One is thousands--it's HUGE!
