I have perfect hearing and I participated in singing and obligatory music lessons in school. As an adult, I do not listen to music unless I am dragged to a concert (and someone else is paying) or I am requested to hear a recital (to show support of a friend's lover, a friend's child, a friend's husband)...
Anyone else hear and can take music on a take-it or leave-it basis?

I don't understand the thread title. I mean I know all those words but arranged in that way, it's unintelligible.

If music doesn’t evoke your emotions in any way whatsoever, you might wanna see a doctor.

    I agree with above.

I've never got people that say 'I'm not into music' .

We really can't be friends hey.

A Hippie not into music – Highly doubtful [IMG]

Mother Earth lives on the ocean
Mother Earth sails on the sea
I am blessed with her devotion
    Mother Earth provides for me

Now I am going on a journey
And I pray all things end well
While Mother Earth looks after me
    I will follow faithfully

Green trees grow on mountain top
Birds still sing while morning come
    Though I treat her carelessly
    Mother Earth provides for me

What about those people when you ask what they want to listen to, or what do you listen to... And they give you one of these... "whatever is on the radio station".... :triumph: no, look, for starters the radio stations are all shit! You just want to take them by the shoulders and give them this ambient, euphoric, Spiritual journey through sound!

They should study those people, see what's wrong with them. :p we had a discussion here about how religious people have brain defects, I wanna know what's ticking in these people's heads, or not ticking if you catch my drift. :tongueclosed::tonguewink::tonguewink:

It doesn't apply to me, Duncan..
But I disagree with the posts in this thread that imply something is wrong with you for being this way.. I have met people unaffected by music before. It does make me curious about why. But hey, who cares? At least if I'm hanging out with someone like you I can be in charge of what we listen to : )

Do other arts appeal to you? Does music in a film emphasize emotion for you?

when i'm on hipforums, i feel like i'm not into music at all, because i put a lot less thought into it than everyone else on here seems to. but then i go off into the real world, and literally nobody else has ever even considered that there might be music that exists beyond the pop station, or maybe the classic rock station if they're musically adventurous.

Yeah, but people's HF music taste is a bit weird for me too. Not really into all the happy, friendly stuff, doesn't do much for me. Need some aggression, some power. Not always the case, but yeah. Actually I guess more recently my music has been more positive and influential, but then again, sometimes I gotta whack on Q Strange to get some frustrations out and nothing does that better than Q's Still Driftin'! Sometimes you gotta pretend to be a Chinese delivery man to get in someone's house, gut em and eat them with your noodles. :tearsofjoy:

I think it's interesting when people aren't into music
I don't understand it, which I guess is why I find it interesting. It's like a curiosity to me.

I'm very mood oriented with music and if a song doesn't suit my mood it just acts more like an irritant to me - and I wonder if that's what it's like for people who don't like music, but with all music all the time
That's no way to live, I know that much

I'm brain damaged, and it messes with my hearing among other things. Rap to me is just so many nonsense words all slurred together. My memory is damaged as well and I can never remember the words to songs I've known all my life. Anyway, I have a limited selection of music that I listen to which is all related to my poetry, and I often prefer to sing and play for myself and can go years without listening to recorded music. I find the quiet to be as inviting as any music and the idea of constantly listening to music is bizarre to me, but without music the silence has no meaning.

I'm glad we got that straight.

  19. I find it annoying. All it is is notes stringed together. It's really easy to do. And yet everyone fancies themselves some kind of genius for doing it. It's ridiculous.

Without intonation, even major chords fall flat.
