good to see you lip, i was darkside on cann.com. i agree the site just went to shit after the new owner showed up. first they took away the other psychedelics forum, then topped the shit sandwich off by taking away recreational and experiences. i havent been back since. wonder what happened to all the other members who left. hipforums is the shit though. you can talk about whatever substance you want without being banned.

Yeah...I got banned a long while ago...I forgot what my Nym was....but It was a pretty sweet site while it lasted.

There was absolutely no spamming.. simply spreading the word to our online friends through contact info or reputation comments in order to stay together and keep the camraderie alive. Some of the member that came from Cann.com were long time members.. some for about four years. The regular, mature, friendly, highlarious members who kept the place alive and fresh. I was only a member for about six months when it all went to shit. we regular posters were very close and interacted really well. The owners of the site apparently took their members for granted. Not only did they just overnight change the focus of the site, but dealt with it with such a nasty attitude and hostility not typical of MJ users. For a while there, it was so hostile and the mods came out swinging at the slightest question, people were being banned left and right for simply asking for not even an explanation, but guidance as to what was going on. I understand that the owner of the site has the right to focus his website on whatever he wishes and doesnt owe us any explanation, but the way they went about not answering questions was extremely unpleasant. i know, I, as well as most of the members to come over from the site will not put up with unecessary bullshit. One of the more level-headed mods asked us to be patient and see if the site improved, then the new rules forbade any social posting. that was the last straw. i understand MMJ users need somewhere to discuss their ailments, but social interaction kind of went hand in hand. He probably believes his site has changed for the better, and in some aspects it has, but losing your member base, in my opinion, is not coming out on top. I promise, i only invited the cool people who invited more cool people. I didnt invite people here with malice in my heart, i simply wanted my friends and i to have someplace to interact. yall behave and dont make me look bad now..

 

Hey Skip, I understand what your saying..but we are threatened with lifetime bans for making a thread like "what color are your eyes?" "rate the avatar above you"..I have been there for awhile..close to 6,000 posts and they basically ran off ALL the older members of the board by turning into a dictatorship..if someone was to ask a question..the thread was delelted or locked..oh, I could go on, but there is no point..glad to be here and glad that you allow people to be free..Thank you

It's all good though - it's SO slow on canncom now theres only a few new threads a day - he's come out worst, and maybe his sponsers will tell him where to shov his site.

 

What happened there was sad.

I was a member for over a year. I used the user name ericwt and then changed it to Unknown American.

What really happened if anyone is interested is the owner got in a financial bind due to his poor marketing strategy and management style. Remember the skull t shirts and the fake weed ads.

It failed and his management of the site lacked balls. You cant be a weenie and have a site that deals with an illegal substance.

So anyway the new sponsor actually owns half the site or more now.

Sund.... does not have controlling interest in the site anymore. He does not call the shots anymore. There is more to the story, but it does not matter. The site is past history.

I tried to tell the story but was banned.

Hip forums and the new marijuana site that Skip is building is the future.

You are not going to have your thoughts censored here. This site is free speech.

There is so many features here it is unbelievable.

The canacom owners did not understand and do not have a clue.

Wow! I never knew any of that. I just thought sundance was an everyday ****, i never knew anything about the financial trouble.

The whole problem is they dont care about their memebers - and a forum without members aint going to make money, EVER! There's hardly any traffic - well, not compared to say, a year ago, and then go another year it was even bigger. It's just gone downhill, FAST!

I mean, im a medicinal user - but i enjoy getting stoned too, same for all medicinal patients. We make friends - like to know whats going on with other people, like a real community. But as soon as no social threads came in, it's like, whats the fucking point then?

Well Sundance always was a ****. That was part of the problem.

I was wanting to buy the site from him.

When I researched it I found he paid way to much for the site to begin with.

Then he canceled the membership program, cutting off all constant cash flow.

I had people search public records and other sources. I talked to old advertisers and got an inside source of information about the site.

He had a goldmine and he fucked it up!

I got ready to make my move and he sold a controlling interest to the new sponsor. If you look in the feedback area, I am sure you can figure out who it is.

Ironically he is cutting his throat even more as far as search engine optimisation. But I suppose if you are going to fuck it up, fuck it up good.

I am not against profit. I am against what they did to the members and how they treated them.

What I was saying is the sponsor has a user name he is using in the feedback section to agree and support the new changes.

It is not the current advertisers.
