I've tried to use it, and I think it's a great program but I'm not educated enough on music production to really make good use of it, unfortunately. I'm interested to see what kind of tips and what not are discussed here.
I produce Electronic Rock primarily but I occasionally will make some Psytrance. Here is a psytrance song I produced... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8cr6OgHE3A"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8cr6OgHE3A FlStudio is amazing! I'm so thankful that I have it. The only knock that I have on it is that sometimes it's hard to get a really strong organic sound with it, which I kind of want with some of the electronic rock stuff... But there's so many different synths, effects and programs contained within FlStudio that it more than makes up for it and perhaps I've just yet to fully figure out some of the nuanced aspects of equalization, compression, etc. which may provide a more organic sound. One tip for Electronic Music in particular which I recently learned is sidechain compression can give a whole different dynamic to the music. There are youtube tutorials on Sidechain Compression so I'll spare explaining how to do it here. Production is definitely very different than playing an instrument but I enjoy it quite a bit.
Nice! I like it. i used to make music with it too. .I tried to produce edm for 4 years.. Im trying to build a hardware setup at the moment but I dont really have cash for it...
Used, surplus, pawnshop... Even learn a little bit about circuits and some good soldering skills. You can get some great equipment this way.
yeah I know.. All I got at the moment is a roland r8 drummachine for sequencing, a mixer, a roland sp 505 sampler (also used for fx) and a recordplayer for samples.. I need some synths, a new mixer, and another sampler... and speakers and accoustic treatment and a room to put the whole thing in etc etc... I kinda gave up because the goddamn cables keep dieing on me and something always goes wrong... software was a lot easier but I don't wanna go back because I hate staring at the screen while making music.. and software crashes too often, I lost a fuckload of projects because of crashes... sometimes I feel like its not worth the effort I put into it because something always goes wrong... I was actually thinking about investing into a pair of technics and start dj ing oldschool garage like todd edwards.. ppl dont really know this type of music anymore and i would love to show the newschool E heads what its all about
XP pro never crashes with cakewalk/ sonar...I hate staring at a screen too but it's such a powerful tool. The number of post production effects available alone would have cost tens of thousands of dollars 25 years ago when I bought my first reel 4-track machine. Not to mention I can stack analogue synth sims, automate parameters, program midi, drums from digital samples, record multitrack audio, edit and sync soundtracks to vids, trigger lights, remote video, external synths, audio... https://soundcloud.com/gongshaman/gong-aum
I was thinking about bitwig studio.. If someone would be into a collab i would love to start making music again... I only have one tune uploaded.. I made it like 2 years ago.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hTAVtlpdgI Im into psytrance too.. but I love dub techno, oldschool garage, house etc basically all.. my workflow involves cutting shit up and copy pasting it all over.. not much synths or sequencers in the daw.. I arrange everything and move shit around on the grid (or off the grid) the mix is shit i have no room treatment and it was made with headphones... I think this one was my best tune.. I made it before a surgery that I had and I was very excited and all the energy f the excitement was put into this song enjoy... Edit: aaaand my macbook just crashed... this is why I hate making music on it.... I made this with an old cubase le software btw... It only let me use 2 synths and 2 fx /channel so I used to that kinda workflow.. less is more.
I'm bumping this thread because I got a dilemma... I'm trying to work on a song that switches time signatures. I've learned how to automate the tempo which is fairly easy and straight forward, however for digital instruments it seems to speed the instruments up unnaturally to the tempo and then if I try to fit the wave to tempo it stretches it so it pitch shifts it. I am wondering if anyone knows any tricks to be able to prevent this from happening, and how to change time signatures. I played the digital instruments on a keyboard controller, is there a way to upload the vst synths from FLStudio into Edison? Even if so, I feel that would be kind of a tedious process, so if anyone knows any other options let me know...
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but I think you are talking about time stretching, which can be found when you click on the sample, then click the SMP tab and there you will see 'time stretching'. Change that to 'pro transient' and then the sample will stay in rhythm while you can change the tempo.
Ok thanks... I tried that and it definitely sounds better but still slightly sped up or something. I think it'll work but it's strange to me how the live instruments I've uploaded and worked with in Edison where I can assign a tempo to them have a flawless transition with the tempo changes for the overall project, but these digital instruments found within the synths that come with FLStudio, seem more bound to the changes in tempo I make.
I'm a noobie at producing but it's a lot of fun. It's funny I had just posted the insomnia remix to youtube when I saw this thread. guerillabedlam I really like the driving bass in your psytrance song, what did you use? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi1z_Y656oU"]Bru - Insomnia Remix (FL Studio) - YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q78Cyi_8NA"]Bru - Fatality (Mortal Kombat Dubstep) - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE8Amy-QbWY"]Bru - L.S.D (Fruity Loops) - YouTube
Those are some quality tracks. I really like the LSD track and I can appreciate the production with the dubstep stuff you did even though I'm not much into that genre. That bass is from this Twisted Reaction package... http://www.soundstosample.com/info/Psyload/Twisted_Reaction_Sample_Pack_Vol_123/1783 I got a free version of it but I couldn't find that for you. It's got some really good bass, arps, and synths for psytrance however the version I have doesn't allow me to change the key of the loops in FLStudio and I believe it doesn't respond to all the effects processors and what not either.
^ Ok cool thanks. I'm not really a big fan of the sample packs, I usually stick to messing with VSTs. Just finished a new drum and bass track. I think it turned out pretty good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVO9Hr0G4N0"]Fruity Loops Dark Drum and Bass "Bru - Amen" - YouTube
I am trying my hands on some reggae. Any tips, tricks, suggestions? Here is a small loop of a track I'm working on: https://soundcloud.com/xoka_25/reggae
