I know all of the christians that i know dont take the bible literally. I was taught in my jesuit school religion class that the stories are purely symbolic. Its quite obvious that these stories are myths, just like the myths of the greek or egyptian gods.
I don't really care about the creationist/evolutionist debate but... How many scientists have been able to produce life from non living materials? And to answer your reply: So what if they can make amino acids, thats a large leap from a living creature.
i dont see what baring that has on anything? scientists arent able to create largescale blackholes but we know they exist. shit happens humans cant do everything
science cant do anything but prove things wrong, never right both explanations rely on something we have no way of knowing "for sure"...and yes, im sure somene will tell me that i need to open up to God, and then i will know creations or something like that, and thank you...but thats not good enough for everybody...skeptics and nay-sayers will always be able to find flaws...like how people react to the Holy Spirit in different ways, for example, not everyone speaks in tounges, so then it could be concluded that the Holy Spriit isnt reliable because it has differeing effects on people that was long winded and eronerous [sp]
It's not a matter of credibility. You can just say "Well they can't do this, so everything about it is wrong" For the theory of creationism to work you have to ignore or at least debunk the science behind, millions of years of evolution....
Imagine how often there'd be an earthquake, volcano eruption, flood, etc etc, aswell as how fast continental drift would be if the earth was only 6000 years old. Absurd.
ok, so if Eve was the first woman & she had sons....where did her grandkids and great-grandkids come from?
I always found that kinda funny, the whole inbreeding being a sin now. I mean if there was only 1 man and 1 woman, some guy had to have slept with his sister; or else we wouldn't exist.
they just bring up crap about how there were probably people in other parts of the world, but this isnt in the bible so their whole argument that the bible is flawless is naught
:H *from Colours*:they just bring up crap about how there were probably people in other parts of the world, So why are women mentioned at all then? If Eve was the first *#1* female that God made, then where & when & how in the world did women in other parts of the world get here?
i hear you squakers. no idea! some old questions about creation: -who was cain's wife? -who was cain afraid of, who would kill him if there are only 3 people on earth? -were there 'other people' living in the land of nod? -was god' mark on cain really necessary if there was only a handful of people? [there's no mention of children after cain & abel, til seth comes, 130yrs later.] -how does cain build a 'city' with only his wife and a son? -doesn't the bible say that incest is bad? -was there a "pre-adamic" race? [some people think so] yeah........
no, im saying adam and eve werent actually the only humans. Like God created a man and woman in other parts of the world as well.
where does it say "God created other people in other parts of the world"? How do you have children at 130 yrs old?
it doesn't. some people think that it just wasn't mentioned. there are always a thousand theories.... uh, well in the bible, in the beginning times, people lived til they were very old - 900 years, etc. there were also giants, and other supernatural beings. seriously, read genesis.
