London is shit. only peoplr who live there or work there or who travel there to work will BIG IT UP. It's dirty smelly full of mixed race types who fleace you in a second. i avoid London like the plague, i can't leave it quick enough. trouble is with London is not the city but the people who are cockny londoners............worse fucking idiots on this planet
well, I think London is the capitol of Europe, you can meet people from each region of Europe, you can find anything there..
I agree with you Gerva. The fact that it is a poly-ethnic city makes it a special place. Love it or hate it, London is one of the most important cities in the world.
I was born in London but moved to Devon with my parents. I never miss a chance to go back there though, I love it its a young persons city I grew up around Brixton and can tell you that you won't get mugged just so long as your smart don't wave you mobile phone around and you should be fine.
London's amazing for the same reason as anywhere else, because of the people, it's the one problem I have with moving away. There are places a lot worse than Brixton in lovely bourgeois Islington now, Cally road and Finsbury, it is all about the vibe and knowing the dealers. On the subject of people, what kind of hippyish things happen though, I mean, you can be lucky on a night out at a gig and meet cool people, but shouldn't we have some drum circle type things like in the US and Canada (preferably in North London)?
Yeah, although it's grown quite big now (in an alternative way) so that they do it in enlightened bars upstairs in the winter. There's such a good vibe, people hear about it and come to dance, play (whatever instrument), trip, or meet people. We definitely need more things like it over here, the closest you ever get is punk squat gigs but not everyone's into that music, whereas everyone digs the beat. That's why I joined this forum really, to find out if I'm just missing this kind of thing, or if we need to make it happen.j
I was only there for 3 days due to immigration problems, but I loved it...then again I love England & anything English lol.
i dont have a very high opinion of london. everyone there (to me) seems to live a life based on shopping and commercialism and being cool and fitting in and it all seems very pretentious, like people are afraid to be different and to be themselves. people would rather go around wearing the latest trendy clothes to fit in with their contemporaries, and covering up their real selves, the tenderness inside. in a nutshell, it's like a place where everyone behaves like a teenager, afraid to be different. i realise that there are people like this everywhere, and no doubt theres loads and loads of really great london people, but thats just the impression i got from all the people ive known from london (which is quite a few). there were only a few that i felt were genuine people, while most were living a life based on what the shops told them to do. a fantasy world of media hype and spending money, with no heart and soul. a world where wealth and status is worshipped and idolised, and genuine love for other people, and joy, and compassion, are cast out. hope that doesnt sound racist! im just giving my honest opinion, perhaps overemphasising it a little!!!! and i really hope that i am wrong about london. its just the impression i got. never lived there but spent a lot of time there. all my love to the Londoners! you definitely have the best music and clubs!!! nowhere else in the country really has anything like the london scene.
