As a practical matter, there is no "Left" in this country; only Hard Right, Far Reich, and foaming-at-the-mouth, lunatic-fringe Reich...but no Left. 40 years ago, Biden would've been considered a moderate Reagan Republican, and Bernie Sanders a middle-of-the-road Democrat.

woke reminds me of the judge in an obscenity trail who said something like (paraphrased) I dont know what it is but I know it when I see it, it has a nebulous changing definition depending on who you speak to, at best it could mean something as simple as equality at worst just another exclusionary label
What is the definition of 'woke'. Once a definition is agreed to then everyone knows what it is all about. Desantis can't define it.
... and now it means... Probably different things to different people. Like Bud light tanking themselves by marketing with Dylan the pretend woman. Pretending that climate change is some kind of imminent disaster. Locking down the population for years for fear of getting sick. Getting rich by stealing other people's money under all sorts of pretenses. Pushing anti-family agendas in entertainment. Pretending gender isn't biological, that "science" is what we're told, that experts are always right, that the news is real. Things like that some call "woke".
"Pretending that climate science is some kind of imminent disaster." Trump voter, methinks. "Pretending that science is what we are told"-----what the fuck does that mean?
It means you don't have access to the science. All you have access to is what people tell you - Their interpretations, their conclusions. That's not science. That's opinion.
Ordinarily, we depend on what reliable people tell us for much of our information. Scientists ordinarily publish their findings in refereed journals of the discipline that other scientists and non-scientists can read. Do you think that "people" are misrepresenting what the scientists have found out, and that the helpless scientists are sitting back , letting this happen, and saying nothing about it. That's a pretty extreme view of reality. Where do you get your information? FOX news?
Many people don't understand how science works. They think that science is based on unalterable facts, like water boils at 212 degrees F. Having little understanding of science they fail to understand that water only boils at 212 degrees F at 1 atmosphere of pressure at sea level. Everywhere else it boils at a different temperature. When they are confronted with the fact that water boils at 249 degrees at 2 atmospheres they then run around claiming scientists don't know what they are talking about or are involved in some grand conspiracy, since everyone knows that water boils at 212 degrees. In regards to climate change these types of people refuse to listen to climate experts as "everyone knows" that the Earth has had periods of elevated heat in the past. Therefore the current rise in climatic temperature is the same as past rises in temperature. After all scientists are always changing the facts as in the example of the boiling point of water. So how can we trust them? All they provide us with is their opinion, not science. Science to them is unalterable facts, as in dogmatic religion. They also they to want to push their values and morals on others as in the example of Budweiser and Dylan Mulvaney. Here we have a private company and a private individual who got together to make a commercial for beer. So what? Somehow they take this as an affront to their morals and values when it has nothing to do with them at all. Don't like the commercial? Don't buy the beer. But following the MAGA cultural outlook they have to attack this poor person, who is just trying to live her life, and a company that choose to promote it's product in a way that they they thought was supportive of an individual trying to find personal peace. It makes me shudder to think that Budweiser felt they could get away with this bull. They should have made a commercial denouncing any gender issues that the MAGA crowd abhors..and Dylan Mulvaney in particular. God, Guns, and Trump is the only reality, everything else is woke.
