No, it doesn’t work that way. The waters are muddied and no one cares.

I can understand your frustration, since in Canada, there are more than twice as many indigenous peoples as blacks. But in the United States, some 13% of the population is African-American (contrasted with only 2% indigenous). The U.S. is just a bigger country, and the BLM movement in Canada is an attempt to export its success in the U.S. there.
Indigenous Peoples in U.S. stand with BLM, but await their own reckoning
Americans, your fantasies about Canada enable Canadians’ complacent sense of white superiority · Global Voices
Canadians shocked by George Floyd’s death should face up to the Indigenous struggle here at home
At the moment, BLM is the center of attention. It's success was a function of focusing on an issue that gained nationwide and even international attention as a result of a series of police abuses. Its success has been at least partly a matter of luck--being in the right place at the right time with the right issue. Whether or not it can sustain the momentum remains for history to decide. If it pushes its luck too far, I'd expect a backlash, and in any event we may see a waning of its influence in the years ahead. Time will tell. Again, I doubt that waning influence of BLM would do a thing for your cause. Your success will depend on organization, a cause that others can identify with, the ability to articulate your position effectively, and luck. You might start by learning to express your thoughts more clearly, instead of in a roundabout fashion 'round Robin's barn or in a scattered, buckshot blast. You must get others to care. They won't do it on their own.

The major achievements of Native American activism in the United States so far seem to be protecting land and mineral rights, the removal of Native American names from sports teams and Land O'Lakes butter packages ( issues about which a majority Native Americans don't seem to give a rats ass) ,the recent decapitation of Columbus' statue, and protests against Mount Rushmore on lands sacred to the Lakota. (A lot of good that did. Trump held his rally there on Friday.)

How odd. The KKK was created by democrats, who were the main proponents and supporters of slavery, as well as preventing blacks from having any rights of citizenship, voting, and other equal rights. It wasn't until LBJ had his bright idea of a great society that they got on board, and then only because not to was political suicide.

I've never heard of DC Stevensen, and don't care to. He already sounds like he has more in common with "top democrats" than any republican I know of, except for rinos like the late John McCain, John Boehner, and Paul Ryan. Maybe that idiot Whitmer, too, regardless of whatever party she professes. I don't see a whole lot of difference these days with politicians and political parties. While fun to blather about, they mean nothing. I vote on issues instead of party lines. I strongly advise the same for everyone.

I saw a video of this happening with a large truck. You should expect such behavior if you're stupid enough to break the law by blocking and then attacking the truck and driver. Only thing that truck driver did wrong was to stop for these idiots in the first place. Blocking the highway and interfering in lawful activities of others is NOT a protest...it's a criminal offence under 18USC Sec. 241, as well as other federal and state laws. Learn not to "protest" by breaking laws or violating the rights of others.

    On a somewhat lighter note:

Today I was in Athens, Ohio, where some people were protesting with their signs and shouting slogans. They were on the sidewalk and NOT blocking traffic. THIS is a legal protest. I took note of a particularly lovely lass with a sign that said "I can't breath!", to which I responded: "Have you tried inhaling?" and "How about NOT breaking the law and see if that works...?"

Well marginalizing native people is not the way to go imo. Don’t you think there has been enough of that? You have three times more native people in the USA than in Canada. Native American reservations Native Women are murdered at a rate representing ten times the national average. Violent crime rates over all on Native American reservations are 2.5 times the national average while some individual reservations reach 20 times the national average of violent crime. So who comes first? What is important here? Blm has said to me, We don’t give a fuck about indigenous/aboriginal people here. Don’t dilute, muddy our waters I am told.. Our waters? Wow, ok!

Yes it is frustrating. The ONLY reason BLM says they support indigenous people is because they don’t want attention taken away from their political agenda, and has nothing to do with indigenous people. It is BS. As the population is increased our percentage decreases. Our issues become less important, but still remain and get worse. Native people here are just about 1 million. 3 mill in the USA. And yes we don’t give a fuck about labels on food. Removing it kind of makes us less recognized or remembered too.

Very frustrating and no one cares, but a guy in another country who gets murder causes riots and destruction internationally. Where is the logic? What is wrong with people? They don’t care about those in their own backyard. Is your country going to riot about each native person who dies, or if a white person dies, or asian, etc... in my country.

Why is this going on in Australia when no one there rioted when the woman from Australia was killed by a black cop, shot in the head but they are for this. It is people taking an anti American stance, and has nothing to do with George Floyd and is being encouraged internationally. I find this disconcerting.

Native Americans are killed in police encounters at a higher rate than any other racial or ethnic group, But who cares right? Yes stand back native people, stand behind, be quiet. Black people to the front. In the USA the mortality rate is 12% higher than that of Africa; americans.

it is all about the UN and the International Decade for People of African Descent as well as the anti American , anti western worlD sentiments. Native people are of the so called western world. Just simply forgotten as the people look everywhere else but their own backyard. This is all based on politics, nothing more, It is why blm can not do their own funding and created a non profit to handle it, it is why our prime minister encouraged people to do the same thing for George floyd in Canada. He is up ass of the UN. He grand stands, but also doesn’t give a shit about the people here. Will do And say Anything to win, including creating a divide and ignoring us. Something the left in Canada has continually done. Directing the people’s attention Away from problems within. We were told constantly to not think of ourselves. Well if we don’t, who will? Don’t be selfish. Look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture simply brought about being ignored and silence for the most part. But who cares?

The left does exist as a monolith though. When all the different people of that ideology unify they do. If you unify with the left's mission for any of their goals, you become a part of that monolith

You sure about that? Canada has seen record applications from the US for the last few years and they have a socialized medical and tax system.

That was then, this is now--after the Civil Rights Movement, Nixon's Southern Strategy, and the Reagan Revolution. But I don't think the Republican Party platform resembles the KKK's.

D.C. Stephenson was Grand Dragon of the Klan in Indiana. Nothing in common with the Democrat leadership today, nor the "rinos" you speak of. Racism is an issue. Trump has become one.

If it was a peaceful protest, how is that breaking the law?

No, it is the center of attention right now because it's politically convenient to bring it up. Last year, the media scared everyone into believing climate change was the real threat and made a 16 year old high school kid a star. Because it was politically advantageous. Earlier this year it was politically convenient to shut down the economy with the coronavirus. Now that the virus hype is slowing down, they needed to bring back BLM, just in time for an election year (and to make you all forget the fact that Biden will steal your black card if you don't vote for him).

If black lives actually mattered to BLM, why don't they bring attention to the problem of black-on-black homicide? Encouraging war with the police department only adds gas to the flames.

Did the US Army hunt down these emigrants? Did these emigrants abandon all their property to make the crossing? Did they nearly starve to death to make their northward voyage?

That's how it is fleeing from a socialist government.

I think the horror and revulsion of George Floyd's death had something to do with it. BLM was there with the right slogan at the right time. "The media" is just your all purpose whipping boy.

George Floyd's murder was horrible, and so are the other unjust killings by police officers.

Some are more politically convenient to highlight than others.

Bet most of you wouldn't know who Justine Diamond is without googling her name

No one has fled Europe like that since the alt-right Nazis came univited. I know the examples you are thinking of also have a a lot of interference from the American government. It's not socialism corupting it's the US playing god with their elections. Someplace like Venezuela makes Americans money.

Last I heard, the black officer who shot her was charged with second degree murder and convicted of third degree murder and manslaughter. Why didn't the killing of a white Australian woman by a black cop attract the same attention as the killing of a black man by a white cop? Gee, I dunno. Must be some sort of conspiracy. Unless it was the fact that she was just shot instead being videotaped slowly dying with the officer's knee on her neck. Actually, I think her killing did attract considerable media attention, occurring just weeks after the cop who killed Pilando Castille in the same city was acquitted. Maybe the fact that Floyd was strike three for the Minnesota police also had something to do with it.

I'm not sure what the right wing was expecting with this place. Of course anything short of being it being a country with a top 10 GDP would not shut them up. But it's a bunch of anarchists who don't like police. People are going to have conflicts and it's not like the actual goal of the movement is for everyone to live like that.

A good portion of the violence is probably being instigated by the police themselves or other right wing movements. There is too much violence too quickly for there to not be a conspiracy. It's not as if violence would not happen but the cops are like the mob or any other gang. They extort for protection and when they are out of a job they might make trouble. All the people who lean toward fascism calling others sheep for wearing a mask are missing this conspiracy.

Maybe a problem is manufactured so you can be sold the solution? Police want nothing more than for people to beg them to come back. To say there is so much crime we give up we accept the police culture. Your job is just so hard.

Consider how long it really takes the police in America to come for anything. They don't really "respond" to much crime. They take statements and investigate but it's actually quite rare for them stop a crime in progress. So I find it a little hard to believe that crime spikes in areas where there are no police because that is the case for most of America at any given second.
