    unusual weather != global warming is true. Those that try to tie extreme events to global warming are doing their entire cause a disservice by casting doubt on areas that we are more certain about. same the other way around too. People have not been able to pull out a global warming signal out of historical weather. The number and strength of hurricanes, rainfall, snowfall, etc. show no conclusive trend. Where there are increases, they are more easily explained by improvements in reporting and monitoring than by global warming. Climate models to predict changes in weather, but they are models that have not been verified for their predictive accuracy.

    That sounds good but it's far more complicated than that. There's a tradeoff between "keeping the planet clean" and the quality of life humans can have right now. We need competetive alternatives to fossil fuels. We reduced particle emmissions when there were alternatives available that were not very cost prohibitive. The same will be true of CO2 emmissions. Right now, any plan that limits the use of fossil fuels will have a negative impact on people. I'm not convinced that, right now, the benefits of less CO2 in the air is going to outweigh the negatives for people.

    If climate scientists, in the form of the IPCC, wouldn't have been so willing to skew the line between science and politics, we might be able to agree on some policies that will have some benefit with limited consequences. Gradually reducing car emissions is a good thing. Nuclear power could be used much more often in a safe manner. Would could make appliances and the energy grid itself much more efficient. IMO, our only long term solution is to develop fusion power. Maybe some outlandish space based solar power grid would work, but would require a worldwide technological effort. That's probably beyond our technology or financial resources now though.

    Also, wars will happen even if green power is widely used. Groups of humans will always disagree and violence is the last resort to make someone else do what you want.

    Peter Sawyer certainly comes up with some interesting points such as in increase of CO2 to a plant leads to an increase of photosynthesis. You can find this information in any high school biology text book. He also has a chapter of the lies of unleaded petrol ( gasoline) and another on CFC's becoming dangerous when the patents held by DuPont were about to expire and they had new patented replacement refrigerant gases.

    I would be prepared to believe in AGW on the basis of better evidence. Measuring tree rings from ancient Bristle cone Pines and then coming up with the hockey stick graph based formulated with an algorithm that Michael Mann did not want to give details of all looks a bit contrived to me. Also, it would seem Michael Mann had not heard of the Little Ice Age when in the UK the River Thames froze over.
    The agenda of AGW is really about public acceptance pf nuclear power stations. Maybe an information film could be made for people who do not like nuclear power stations along the following lines:
    In 6 June 1944 aka D-Day Allied soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy.4414 of these soldiers were killed in the process. These men laid down their lives as did other Allied soldiers so you can enjoy the freedom you have today. So too nuclear powered submarines also defend your civil liberties like they did in the Falklands war. Nuclear power stations are necessary to reprocess the stuff that nuclear power submarines run on. Don't forget that the Germans largely lost WW2 because they ran out of oil
