oh...I should have quoted...someone had mentioned that they didn't like the salad...that's what I was responding to. sorry there... No...of course its horrible the way the animals are treated...I wouldn't argue..
So, how, as a vegetarian, could you, in your right mind, eat at a place that treats the animals in that way. It's just like ordering macaroni and cheese or mashed potatoes from KFC and not thinking anything of it.
well i sorta glanced at the area of that the link is in....does that count? and i have driven by applebees ....i even once went inthe parking lot?...does that count as going in?
Some people have no choice but to go to eat at Applebee's. I live in the backwoods, and the closest, nice, eatery is Applebee's. If you have the option to go someplace else, then take it. I personally don't like the place because service is generally bad and they look like you have grown a third head if you ask for no meat. I once had a waitress ask me if I wanted to replace the chicken with shrimp (I told her I didn't want any meat in the meal). I had to stop myself from being rude and saying: "What part of no meat don't you understand????" I was polite and said, "No that's okay. Thanks." But perhaps ordering veggie there might help build a base so they bring back veggie food?
"Current U.S. systems shackle the chickens, hang them upside down and run them through electrified baths to stun them before their throats are slit and they are put into scalding defeathering tanks." Dang.
i have to agree with shambhala, if you live in a big city like new york or something it would be so easy to find another place to eat. but i live in a little farm community, where they raise cattle and such, and its either eat at a fast food place or starve. i even work at mc donald's (the only vegitarian there) because there arent enough jobs around. i feel horrible about how they treat animals at these places. i think that gasing would be more humane, but maybe the reason why they are still researching it is that maybe the gasses they use to stun the chickens are potentially harmful to humans. (another great reason to be a veg or vegan: WHAT'S IN THE MEAT?!)
I really try hard not to eat out. My family hates me for it, which is stupid because im the healthiest, strongest person in my family, theyre all fat except for my dad. Jesus. Anyhow, I prefer to eat things from clean food establishments like (I'm not vegan) Panera Bread and real restaurants. Applebees, TGI fridays, and other type restaurants are designed for cheap, easy food. They are hardly ever hygeinic nor are their recipes made to be healthful in any way. At least at Panera Bread you can get an all veg meal...
