What "big KKK"? There's no such thing, they were driven underground decades ago. Sure you see a few people who call themselves KKK, mostly for news cameras. Beyond that, there's nothing. No political support. No money. No support from the majority of white Americans (which was always the case). Seems like a pretty useless target for anyone's ire these days. They don't actually do anything worthy of note. So they're not worthy of my fear.
Jimmy made the US look like cowards and wimps for over 400 days while Iran held Americans as hostages. His mishandling of the Shah and other middle eastern deals initiated shit we see to this day. But I won't lay it all at Jimmy's feet. Reagan came in talking tough, but when over 200 US Marines were blown up by a truck bomb, as they slept in the barracks in Beirut, Reagan pulled out. And invaded a Caribbean island that nobody but med school flunkies had ever heard of.
That's nice, hope it keeps you warm at night. I fail to see the relevance otherwise. It would be like me grousing because a pedophile raped my great grandfather.
I would. That guy who just shot up the place of worship in Pittsburg got all three of his guns legally. It's time for major changes in gun laws.
Yea, good luck with that. Guns are pretty simple machines. There will always be a criminal market for them. We can't expect to simply wish them out of existence. Same as nukes, we're stuck with what we know.
How? A poll conducted in 2015 says there are 265 million firearms in the US. I doubt the people that own them will give them up willingly...I wouldn't. RSF Journal
Trump has issued in an era of an acceptance of political violence. Now, the Republicans and Pence deny this, but let's look at what some of his words have been. (Excepting his recent scripted calls for unity after these three recent attacks). And I really get tired of repeating this stuff, but it seems people have very short memories. He has called for political rivals to be locked without providing any legal reasons why. He and his supports chant "lock her up" at rallies. He calls his rivals "crooked" etc. without any facts to back that up. He calls the media "the enemy of the people" and "fake news" without any facts to back that up. Remember the media is the watchdog of the country. He claims immigrates are murders, rapists, etc. without any facts to back that up. He praises totalitarian leaders. He never admits mistakes. He lies continually. He praised an elected official who plead guilty to body slamming a reporter.... On and on. The President has the "Bully Pulpit". That means his voice carries extreme power and that power must be used to unite the nation, not divide it. When individuals see Trump, or any leader, promoting violence, lies, and showing such a disregard for the rule of law; they become emboldened. They see Trump doing what he wants, bullying, raging at rallies, denigrating anyone he disagrees with and as our president they respect the office and think that this is the way to act, this is how people gain power and respect. If they feel they have been slighted in some way they loose any empathy they may have toward others and act without compunction. Trump thinks this is all a game. He thinks he can get votes by acting the clown, poking people in the eye, running his mouth off without facts...but he has no idea how many people take this as a call to arms, sometimes literally. He sets a terrible example for anyone on the fringe mentally in this country, on both sides. I won't be surprised if some liberal nut now decides to seek revenge. Trump has started a fire that may be hard to put out.
And yet you still didnt answer the question. How is a guy that has a jewish son in law? Visited the wailing wall complete with skull cap on his first Presidential visit, said he'd destroy those that want to destroy Israelites ....responsible for the anti-semitics?
Well, in addition to all of the above, you would have to look at the shooter's motive (as far as we know from his posts online) and what Trump has said about the caravan in particular. The shooter was upset because he believed Jews were helping to transport members of the dreaded caravan that Trump has been railing against lately. You know the one Trump claims is an "emergery "(sic) has hidden Middle east terrorists in it, is funded by the Democrats, Leftest, Venezuela, and George Soros, and is filled with criminals. All without evidence, which he even admitted. Obviously this guy was disturbed and he listened to this rhetoric and acted out against those Jewish people that were helping the terrorists, and criminals in that caravan.
But the way you're talking, there wouldn't be a need for major changes in gun laws because there would be no guns. Also, if you had your way, which would allow the government to confiscate everyone's guns, the only people with guns would be the ones who stole them.
Some people here need to get some fresh air and maybe even join the work force again. Obviously lack interactions with groups of people.. That's the problem with the internet. People get stuck in a loop, you see the pattern here every day..
The state police in each state can draft a plan to go house after house for search and confiscate. I know property must be paid for when taken by the government but in cases of national public safety there has to be exceptions. The recent violence by right wing extremists justifies the effort.
That's an old NRA argument that don't cut the mustard any more. We can have a gun-free nation WITH gun laws on the books. The persons who own guns pursuant to the crime of stealing the guns should be dealt with just like that Dodge van driving Trump supporter.
If Trump's followers get some fresh air then maybe black people wouldn't get shot at the grocery store?
