Except he is right though isnt he, if they had evacuated more lives would have been saved

Which is the message that needs to be put out there if it happens again: get the fuck out of the burning building

    Hindsight is a great thing

Only someone that was extremely ignorant of the details could have come out with such a statement or think that it was correct.

If they knew the details they would realise just how dumb they were.

The issue here is not the fire service stay put advice which was correct for the building (as it had been) but the people who authorised the cladding of the building in material that was unfit for that purpose.

Don’t put the blame on the people that took the fire brigades advise blame the conservative council and slack building regulations

And remember that the fire occurred amid years of cuts to public services, deregulation and privatisation of housing and housing services, as well as a culture of ignoring the concerns of social housing residents and social inequality.

Same thing happened 9/11, many people were told to go back upstairs in wtc 2, many people died unnecessarily as a result.

It wasnt hindsight as its happened before.

It common sense. Get out of the building thats on fire

Course we all know if some one from the labour party had said it, you'd be pulling his pants down ready to hug his nuts for saying what needed to be said

An important commumity announcement for all Hip forum members; if your building is on fire, get the fuck out of there

Again another ignorant comment from a stupid sod who has no appreciation of the effects of a fire.

When a fire starts on lower floors (in Grenfell Tower it started on 4th floor) smoke billows up through any and every air space available including stairwells. Thus people on the 8th, 9th or 10th florrs or above of these buildings have to make their way down dark and very smoky stairwells in circumstances where they are unable to breathe. Some of those residents were not virile and youthful, energetic people but elderly and in some cases infirm and disabled. These people would never make it out of a burning building in the circumstances prevailing. In fact, in the case of Grenfell Tower, some of those who did die, did so trying to escape and their bodies were discovered in the stairwells.

Grenfell Tower was designed to be operated under a "stay put policy" in the event of fire. The idea was that if a fire broke out in one flat, thick walls and fire doors would contain the fire long enough for the fire service to bring it under control. Only those in the affected dwelling would be expected to evacuate. The building was designed under the assumption that a full evacuation would never be necessary. There was no centrally-activated fire alarm and only a single central staircase

And not long after the fire began to spread because of the added cladding smoke had gotten into the stairwell, making it very difficult for residents to escape without assistance from firefighters
