I fully support a drive to lower our population. People get really weird about this, they hear it as "kill a load of people" or eugenics.. Or they imagine being "not allowed" to have a natural child and feel some fundamental right is being denied to them. But it's correct in my opinion that the ONLY way to save the planet as a habitable place is to decrease the number of humans.

No, world population will not double. It is expected to top out at 10.9 billion by 2100 and then stop growing. Currently world population is estimated to be 7.7 billion. The only thing about these numbers I find frightening is the increase in the number of old people. Between 2020 and 2100, the number of people ages 80 and older is expected to increase from 146 million to 881 million. All these old farts will undoubtedly put a serious strain on Earth's supply of prune juice, Viagra, Metamucil, Polident denture cleanser, Anusol and so forth. The unreasonable demands from these old geezers and biddies for 10% discounts on fucking everything is also expected to increase, with detrimental effects to the global economy as a result. In addition, some scientists are warning that we could see a spike in the number of unsolicited stories concerning how things were better in "the good ole days", leading to an alarming 800% increase in concentrations of atmospheric CO2, a greenhouse gas.

World population growth is expected to nearly stop by 2100

    Rolleyes

Its going to stop at 10.9 Billion is it

and this determined by "Pew Research Center analysis of new data from the United Nations." apparently because of falling fertility rates 80+ years before that

If you saw increase in CO2 from fossil fuels you would see the a decrease in the ratio of C13/C12. This is what's happening.

Last paragraph of the summary from that first link ( paper dated 2003)

"Major future challenges are to improve inter-laboratory precision of isotopic measurements in or-der to compare results from different laboratories on a very high level of precision. In addition, the isotopic connection of different chemical species or different types of archives needs further improvement, and the(isotopic) fractionation between compartments is not established well enough to allow conclusions to be drawn unequivocally. Models require experimental input of roughly equivalent quality and a high spa-tial density which is difficult to get for the present and impossible to provide for the past. For reducing the uncertainty of our understanding of the Earth’s climate system, the puzzle needs more pieces"[/B]

    That's really old.
I remember "adults" back in the late sixties talking about hippies' concern for the environment...but they played electric guitars!!!!! My GOD!

Your anecdotal evidence of course does not outweigh the existing scientific evidence

I had the privilege of seeing a bald eagle a few weeks ago, I had never seen one before.

Remember when the top scientist said the fires would block out the sun over Asia.. Wrong.. There was only localized soot rain.

There's been so many examples of alarmism over the decades, where certain calamity was predicted and never came to pass, that observant people will need to see a piece of the sky on the ground before believing chicken little.

    Bald eagles are great.

Living by a river we see them from time to time. Almost had one hit the windshield of our car awhile back.
If we go down stream to one of the hydro dams when they release water at certain times of the year you can see maybe 20 flying around after the fish.

Too bad nighthawks, western meadowlarks, American sparrows, green herons, surf scoters, western grebes, glaucus-winged gulls, common murres, Brandt's cormorants, sparrows, redwing blackbirds, bobolink quail, etc....are disappearing.
