Another fun climate change thread

Woe unto you, people of Earth, for you have turned from the ways of the spirit to the pleasures of the flesh and fornication. It isn't climate change, but God who will smite the human race, through flood, famine, earthquakes, and general terror. You've all had your fun, and now it's time to pay the piper.

 

Ahhh, Vegas!

 

Las Vegas will become so hot that everyone there will die of blisters. California will sink into the sea, and have a big earthquake. Everyone will die.

 

Now there's a revelation!

 

If I spend all day rolling dice, I will come into a streak of all 6's. Over time my odd's of it are still 1/6. Weather is a nonlinear system where small changes can exhibit apparent disorder even when the long term measurement of them (climate) are well understood.

Given enough time, short term trends are long term, so yes, they do eventually overlap, but that's pedantic.

 

Come on, if Holly comes back to this thread, how convinced of that do you think she's going to be? No variables that would fall under the category "weather" can be described by a linear function?

Weather is a nonlinear system, thats what you said, what "weather" is that?

 

I don't think debates on the internet convince anyone of anything. Are you asking for a definition of what weather is?

Individual inputs cause enough noise in the system, such as a small difference direction of prevailing winds that day 10 of a 10 day weather forecast is almost meaningless.
