Nobody else noticed the Extiction Rebellion protests then?

Been going on in central London for a couple of days now. Over 300 arrests so far, many more protests planned.

And making out I or anyone else that calls you on it is angry, is just another way to avoid personal responsibility and blame.

What we can do. If you want to phrase it in a hopeful way, me in a cynical way; these are opinions and words. They mean nothing. Actions get the job done.

Those words especially mean nothing if you are actually taking less action on the environment than me or anyone else that may make jokes or be cynical

No, its just an issue thats more important to you. You see garbage and you are disgusted.

Whilst as I said, I think plastic will end up a bigger problem than global warming. The number of chickens is far from not being relevant. There are 19 billion chickens on the planet.

But you'll never see all the 19 billion chickens at once to be shocked, all the land cleared for chicken farms, 3 to 4 times that size land for the crops that feed them. And of course a whole lot of chicken poo and thus extra nitogen. Chickens were still a luxury item 120 years ago, so we are probably talking 18.5 billion more chickens than there were 120 years ago.

But VG is talking about chickens, what nonsense, whats that got to do with Global Warming?

Agriculture of all kinds, but especially mass animal agriculture, is a huge problem. Chicken farming is not as deleterious as cow farming, I don't think. You can keep chickens on much less land and with many less resources than you can keep cows.

And plastic, yea, plastic is a huge issue. And it appears to be insidiously toxic to most life forms. It's bewildering that we still see things like this at the grocery stores around here:

Why are you saying its an issue thats more important to *me* when you're the one that made the point that plastic is a huge problem? I was merely agreeing with you

And I also agree the environment is a multifaceted issue. Livestock, as well as overpopulation and the demand that puts on our food supply, is also a problem.

I didnt say your point about chickens was nonsense, I said I didnt know what point you were trying to make because you often dance around a point without making it. But you made your point more clear in this post so..thanks!

Interesting topic..so I looked it up.
    Here's what I found:
    1. Most of the carbon dioxide generated by the poultry industry is from of fossil fuels used by electricity, propane, and diesel fuel used in the cultivation of feed.
    2. Next is carbon dioxide from the manure generated by the poultry. Manure also results in ammonia and nitrogen.
    3. The greatest amount of carbon dioxide generated from domestic animals comes from crop management and growth. (78 per cent of total nitrous oxide emissions). Poultry contributes 9% of that amount.

From Global Warming: How Does It Relate to Poultry?

Also, last I heard it was over 500 arrests. They've got to keep it up though. This won't have any impact unless it goes on and on. I admire them.

A statistic I thought was more direct, from Attenborough's thing was that an area the size of a football pitch is lost to rising sea levels every 45 minutes.
I had no idea about that.

They demand Governments tell the truth about the ecological crisis?
Because none of then know how to use google to search for the walrus video or read the news about how many bee species have disappeared?????

Drawdown? Amongst drawdowns list of 100 it actually suggests an increase in biodiesel

Join the Rebellion: Then there is a list of 14 first world countries and Sth Africa. Only one of those countries being in the top ten most populous countries in the world

VG being negative again, always being negative.....but what the fuck is all that going to do? They dont know how to fix things anyway. More biodiesel for fucks sake...and why not go hold up traffic in Beijing or Jakarta?

China, India, US, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Russia, Mexico, these 10 countries hold 5/7ths of the worlds population

a football pitch being 0.0045 square kilometres, every 45 mins at that rate it would take 320,000 years to gobble up land the size of russia

Seriously, Russia is 17.1 million sq klm,

Its alarming, especially in reference to something like the Walrus video, but the ice isnt actually melting at a rate as fast as things like all the insects disappearing, or the human population growing, or how fast we are running out of fresh water in some parts of the world. We are going to have bigger fish to fry than Global Warming

Something I find alarming about the walrus video is imagining how easily it could be a resource humans rely on that's disappearing, water being a prime candidate.. And how we could be watching other humans die in such an unpleasant way, especially if it could have been avoidable. So yes, I see that there may be more urgent threats.

I've seen the glacier photos from the 80s and then again to today... Idc if it's not shrinking at the rate they say or not, just look at the photos for yourself. It's really bad.

Thing is--all creatures evolved to their own place in the chain of sentience. We don't want to live in caves again , but the industrial revolution has thrown a monkey wrench into the cycle of life.
