This thing found itself in the ball of my older son's left foot. Not sure how it got in our front yard. The photo isn't great but it's steel from the looks of it. About 5/8 of an inch long. Some sort of nail I think? Looks like the top of a school compass used for circles. Fun times.

Oops, forgot. I wrote a little bit and then finished it off later. Not sure how that happened.

How is your sons foot? It must've been sharp to penetrate his assumingly tough soles.

Luckily, it didn't go directly into his foot. It entered at an angle and went roughly horizontal to the surface of his sole. When he realized it, he sat down, crossed his foot over his knee so that he could see his sole and pulled it out. I looked at the injury and it doesn't look bad. No bleeding. He's had his shots so no danger of tetanus. Can't provide a picture now since I've thrown that thing away.

Oh that is good to hear, but I suppose this isn't the first time and not the last especially given your sons don't have any footwear.

Oh no. It's just a part of life. Just pull it out and keep on walking :)

Thigh high bollards. Those things hurt.
