    Hey my favorite community,

What do you think of this design for my ankle?

It's a stylized Chakana, or Andres Cross, symbol of the people of the Andes (I’m Chilean). In the middle there is the constellation Southern Cross but inverted, because I live in the northern hemisphere, and also because would like to see the southern American region (Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina) pushing up in terms of development.

I totally like it. Be warned, since i have a couple of foot/ankle tats, that will hurt because there is no fat there like in an arm say. other than that it's a cool design.

    Two questions:

Do you really, really, really want to have that design, ever unchanging, on that part of your body for the rest of your life (which could stretch - will hopefully stretch! - over many, many decades yet)? Ask yourself again, and searchingly, why it is that you feel compelled to have a tattoo. Don't let focusing in on the 'how' distract you from the 'why.'

Also, will the person executing the tattoo be able to render it as accurately and cleanly as the Photoshopped/superimposed picture you've created/posted? Such a design, reliant upon straight lines and true right-angles and sharp star pin-points, will be pretty difficult to do justice to, I'd imagine. How is it likely to age, as the injected ink starts gradually to suffuse and bloom at the edges?

It's certainly a lovely design, in-and-of-itself. Why not have it created as a pendant?

    Thank you for the comments.

I know what you mean. This would be my 3rd tattoo. My first was a circular pentagram. I noticed that while I was getting the tattoo done, my arm was bent. Once finished with the arm straight the design got a little oblong.

Before designing the tattoo I chose that area, ankle or foot. Being shoeless I would like to have an accent on that area, just like some people would use toe rings or anklets.

Regarding straight and sharp angles, it could be a challenge. Indeed I was thinking to create a more rustic version.

I know that there is no rational explanation for getting a tattoo. It's just a cosmetic accent and a conduit of personal expression.

All tattoos hurt, some areas are more sensitive than others and everyone deals with pain differently. I have a large tattoo on my thigh, I was told that would be sore by one of the tattooists and yet i didnt find it that painful, just uncomfortable to start. I know a few people who have tats on their foot and almost all say it was painful. The skin in thin and its a sensitive area. Now I consider to add http://tattoo-journal.com/25-exclusive-ankle-tattoo-designs/ something accurate and elegant for my ankle. Your design well done.
