Oh, I just remembered when my friend and I boxed his garage and his dog got so lit that he didn't move for the rest of the day...
Cruel? In the first place, animals (those below humans) and humans may react differently to psychedelics. You really don't know how LSD will impact a cat or dog. The cat or dog may even find it pleasurable. Secondly, humans are the only creatures with the capacity to reason and reflect. Psychedelics obviously only have a "mind-expanding" aspect for humans. It's not at all clear that some animals would feel pain, much less recognize that something is going on, since they are to a great extent influenced by psychological conditioning and instincts. So, I would say it's not smart given the lack of information on how animals are impacted, but until this information comes out I would hesitate to call it cruel. But then... I am not an animal rights activist, like some here, and do not attribute anthropomorphic qualities to animals. I'd say it's just a strange form of amusement, and there is no point to it. It may even harm the animal.
well, i give my dogs beer, and they love it...i dont force nyhting on them.....i also let my dog be in the room whilst smoking and they beg for it sometimes, i thin kthey like it, but i would not give any animal acid!!! shrooms maybe....
that would be pretty cool, i think.... hell, you'd get to trip for free! my boyfriend gave his cat two hits of acid once... it went crazy, just chasing his tail around and around, and then it went and layed in his shoe, and *im guessing* just watched the pretty colors.
I have for sometime wondered about wild giraffes. A majority of their diet consists of eating acacia tree leaves which contain DMT.I believe I read somewhere of an african tribe that eats the bone marrow of a giraffe to induce vision quests. As for giving animals psychedelics when it is not part of their normal diet constitutes abuse in my eyes.
in humans dmt is not orally active, but for giraffes, who knows... also, about the spider experiment, i highly doubt they have receptors in their brains[?] to be affected by those drugs. i've only seen that on random websites, nowhere trustworthy...
i guess the animal would bcome a nervous wreck afterwards. pretty stupid to waste an animal like that.
my neighbor's perfectly decent rott turned into a complete freak that would break out and chase people down. he was finally put down when he went after my little brother. not a cool thing to do.
A couple times I have hotboxed my room with my dog in it, and I can tell stoned. Never gave it any psychedelics such as lsd or shrooms. But has anyone here ever seen Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, in Mademoiselle Nobs they have a dog doing lead vocals, and I think they have it on LSD or something, it goes right with the rhythm.
A friend of mine gave his cat LSD (I'm assuming way too high a dose for a cat--assuming L dosage is proportional by weight--since they're what, less than 1/12th the weight of a human?). He said the cat was tweaking on the end of his couch just looking all around until after about 3 or so hours of that he sprinted full speed across the middle of the room and ran straight into the wall w/out slowing down. After a few days they had to put the cat to sleep. FYI I wasn't involved and wouldn't do that to an animal . . . Unless it asked me to
I'm your reference, I did the experiment, I just spoke of the expeirment from an observers perspective because I know people are sensitive about this sort of thing. The experiment was conducted with the utmost seriousness due to it's nature. And rest assurred that the cats both ended up living on, seemingly unharmed, for the remainder of the normal life expectancy of a cat.
Our cats always leave the room, when we prepare the bong... I guess that says everything. But on the other hand, both love to get high on catnip.
u know i read about syd barret and found out that he most likely has a mental disease that was a rare form of autism. he was fucked up, but quite creatively fucked up and i think some of the rumors about his LSD use are a little out there. Syd took a lot of L, but so did all of them. LSD simply triggered an underlying mental disease which would have eventually came forward. If you listen to pink floyd's subsequent albums, especially the song "shine on you crazy diamond" you'll hear that he really cracked when the band began to get famous. he was incredibly creative, in dark and mysterious but not dangerous ways. he would come out on stage and play only three notes, but i doubt he was dosing some cats. As he grew in fame he got weirder and crazier and eventually retreated with his family and had no connections with the public. See, i think if syd hadn't taken as much acid, he would have 1. been less unique and creative in his music, and 2. had a much longer career. but, eventually, years down the line, the underlying mental disorders he had would have surfaced, and possibly in a much more extreme and immediate way like a psychotic break. Syd Barrett is mostly considered a sad case because he disapeared from the public eye, but for all we know he is comfortable. and not only that but the music he created and inspired will forever have an impact on our culture.
