My tattoo guy had on a really funny shirt...it said "Are you gonna eat those tots?" lol it made me laugh!
haahaaa!!! that's great - my hubby thinks tater tots are a required food group for almost every meal - i'm gonna have to make him one of those he's the king of rude t-shirts. he had an FBI shirt, but to him it stands for 'fuckin big indian'. my wonderful, environmentally sensitive eldest son blurted out at the dinner table a while ago, 'save a tree - eat a beaver!' which he saw on our neighbor's t shirt... after we all quit choking on our food, i told him that wasn't polite dinner conversation and it didn't really mean what he thought it did...
well yea, it does - but he needed to know at age 11 that he shouldn't blurt that out in school or sumthin equally ridiculous.
ah, sorry, I thought you meant shirts that literally said "i'm a bitch", not the insulting ones that implied it by way of insulting another group of people. self depricating is fun, insulting others isn't
I HATE the 'boys are stupid throw rocks at them' shirt, or poster, or anything like that. It makes me mad, especially since a 'Girls are stupid, throw rocks at them' shirt would incite serious rage.
I love it!! My dad has a hat that says FBI: Full Blooded Indian, but I love fucking big indian more! I must agree with almost everyone here and say I hate those shirts too. Boys aren't stupid, we shouldn't throw rocks at them. I saw a shirt on a girl the other day that said "How to make a guy like you. Laugh at all his jokes. Weare sexy clothes. Put out a lot" This girl was in grade 6!! WTF?? I can't even believe that stores in malls sell these clothes and get away with it. I guess these shirts are just signs of the the times. It makes me think that I don't want to bring kids into this world.
Yeah, but if we don't, who will argue for decency when our generation is gone? The kids who are raised to think that wearing shirts like the one you mentioned is perfectly cool? The girls who are taught to be nothing more than a sex object from the time they're too young to know better, so by the time they're our age they don't know any other way to be?
Goth, are you saying that these SHIRTS gave you your issues? Hmmmm. FTR, none of them would be allowed in my house. NONE of my children, boy or girls, are allowed to wear insulting tee shirts.
Mags: I mean more like the societal attitude that has the news apologizing for calling New Orleans folk displaced by the hurricane "refugees", that has a radio station who had two girls slap each other for cash and prizes fined a staggering amount (with the funds going to domestic violence shelters) etc. but has ZERO problem with marketing to CHILDREN shirts saying to exploit boys and injure them. It will teach my son something about feminism I'd rather he didn't learn. I respected feminism when it was about redressing the inequalities of the 70s and earlier period. Now it's just a bunch of professional victims tilting at windmills.
Well, my freind, that's the part I subscribe to. I don't get into nasty tee shirts, especially on innocent children. It's horrible and degrading for the boys and the girls.
I don't think the salesgirl is necessarily in charge of what is sold there... And yes, Libertine, freedom of speech... although it's too bad that people won't use their right of freedom of speech for more useful things. I don't blame it on the companies who make them or the stores that sell the shirts, I blame it on the idiots who actually wear that and think it's cute. A lot of girl's clothing really irritates the shit out of me... I went to ShopKo the other day to look for some cheap clothes and the only thing they had in my size where egotistical message shirts that said things such as "Hot Babe" yadda yadda yadda. Not on this topic, but the most ridiculous shirt I saw there was a shirt with a picture of a cartoon style monkey, drinking a glass of milk...and below it, it read: "got jesus?" LMAO how fucking ridiculous is that. It made me want to blow chunks.
