After much thought I have finally decided to leave hip forums once I have transferred all my blog posts! I know that some people aren't going to like what I have to say but what the hell it's free speech and all that. When I first joined here I was delighted to have found somewhere to hang my hat that made me feel comfortable even if I was not always in agreement with what I was reading.There was a great mix of different types of people and a lot of good stuff going on.
Sadly for me that spirit of camaraderie no longer exists! I am sick to the fucking back teeth of a front page made up almost entirely of posts in sexually explicit shit that I am not even slightly interested in and even worse, because in all honesty, people's sexual preferences are really none of my business, how many members seemed to think that because they smoke dope that they are cool? Right wing politics, gun toting and racial and sexual intolerance are not cool here. I don't give a fuck how much dope you do, it's where your mind's at that is the key!!
Anyway I'm done. That is if I ever get all this shit transferred

6 Years I Have Considered Doing The Same Thing, But All Forums And

Blogs Go Through A Bad Cycle.

My Advice Would Be To Follow My Train Of Thought, And That Is To

Post Here Less, And Keep The Lines Of Communication To HF's Open,

Then, If In A Few Months Time Nothing Has Changed Here,

Just Do What I'm Going To, And That's To Walk Away....

Glen, I've done the "don't post very much and see how it goes" thing and sadly "down the toilet" springs to mind.Sorry but the decisión is made this time. I'll be here for a couple of days transferring blog posts but that's it. I have to say that you are one of the people I will miss.

 

I do the spasmodic thing myself - and agree the SEX and WEED things seems to be on the increase and something that "Non- Olde Hippies" (( May be a Generalisation (?) I know)) feel that the Faith and/or movement was/is all about!!
I remain a 'member' for as has been said, things move in cycles (some larger than others) and though I do respect your choice - for after all, that is what freedom is all about - I'd like to think that keeping the faith with those that do - still, retain the values of what is important -"Teach your children=well", comes to mind
Anywho - should you confirm your decision - then may Good wishes go with you, and be mindful that there'll always be a Welcome back from those with similar Mind Set - should you feel the need

Oh boo hoo, another attention thread.

What strikes me as ironic is this thread is laced with intolerance. First of all I've been coming here for 10 years and it has ALWAYS had a plethora of sex and drug threads, many of them outright ridiculous or I could imagine offensive to the easily offended.

Then you go on to state: "right wing politics, gun toting, and racial and sexual intolerance are not cool here." What's not cool is lumping all of those in the same sentence, or further saying anyone's opinion is not cool here. That's the whole point of this place.

And as far as right wing politics and gun toting attitudes, that's a natural reaction to the so called progressive left forcing it's agendas on everyone like a bunch of fascists. The republicans did it under Bush, now it's gotten even worse under the current moron. What I'm seeing among my generation in particular is a growing libertarian movement, who are TRULY socially liberal (unlike you), yet still pragmatic regarding economic issues.

Your way of thinking is so outdated, that if you can't impose your beliefs on other certain people you just refuse to associate with the entire group. Many of whom you seem to be obviously close with and on par with in similar outdated ideas. Makes a lot of sense.

The funny thing is that she mentioned free speech. Well, all that gun toting stuff IS free speech. So is the sex and drugs talk.
Everyone wants free speech, but under their own conditions.
