Is your username a reference to Tupac or is it more related to the 15th century politician Niccolo Machiavelli?

You are more indirect than I, but are not much better suited in that department so another lesson would definitely fall on deaf ears.... or in this case, blind eyes.

I am far more than a numbers man. I am a thinking man, and I do not think much of those who state direct claims with no ability to back them up.

Tupac of course. A man who spoke from the heart and who spoke for the people in a language that spoke to the people whom he was speaking for. A wise man who gets little credit for his intellect due to the style in which he chose to voice that intellect. Something I can appreciate to the fullest as I often feel that my message gets lost behind my words.

    Ahh cool.
Does the notion of your message getting lost bother you?

I do not think much of those who are happy to be an ass just because they disagree with some one else, regardless if they are correct or not.

I see this discussion is sinking faster than a parachute-less skydiver.

I think that would be less than 40 seconds. That is pretty quick for a discussion to be sinking.

But I do not know if the wind factors into the equation.:)

Not any more. When I have a message to give, it is those who are meant to hear the message who will see beyond the words. Those who cannot see past the spoken or printed words to understand the meaning behind them are not ready to accept or simply do not share my belief or thoughts. Many here have admitted to seeing past the words over time and it is something that largely reinforces my actions. In turn, my actions speak of my values and my values speak of my character, and I am reassured of the path I walk.

At one point I was bothered by this. The feeling of being undervalued or overlooked is one that can crush a spirit. At one point in life I felt that people would never see what I had waited too long in life to show them. I felt the perception was set, accepted, and generally expected. It was Tupac who made me realize the folly of that thinking. When you listen to a man like him speak on such a large scale, and realize what he had to say that was never heard by many, it makes you realize that your message too was meant for a select audience. That audience seats themselves when they are ready and no matter of explaining will get them seated any sooner than they are ready to hear that message.

In discussions like these chaos factors in the most. Anybody could say anything at any time to raise the volitility level of said discussion.

I understand. This was my attempt to ad some humor and lightheartedness in the discussion.

I actually learned some things in this thread.:)

I know it was my, apparently poor, attempt at playing off of it with a little light humor of my own.

Care to review what you have learned today?

Haha. I like it. Way to break the tension. You get some good rep for that....

Just kidding. We ruined that system long ago, no?

    Very eloquently put.

Consider this... any person not ready to see past the words to accept the message is clearly not your target audience and therefore their misinterpretation and/or misappropriation of your words- the instrument called language- should not matter to you and should not warrant any response from you. Does it matter whether someone with whom you have no desire to communicate takes your word other than intended and therefore wouldn't it be a waste of your effort to correct the misinterpretation?

Perhaps it's the larger audience that you're playing to- that they might mistaken the detractor's replies as factual and your message get lost? Surely you don't think that those of us following along need further interpretation of what has already been expressed so clearly... you give us little credit here Makaveli... that's quite a name... I like shorter ones, do you mind that I refer to you as Adam? I anticipate no objection Adam so I'll continue...

Beyond corrupting a message as a whole is the possible gross misinterpretation of it as the result of a simple misspelling... again, no credit for the ability of the general audience to follow along and interpret the meaning that lurks behind innocent mistakes. One might get thrown off a bit- except that we generally can accept such foibles as, after all we all are human- and isn't it human to err?

I see words tossed around and there's more than messages out there to be had because these words have more to their purpose than simply to communicate or educate. These words are a bit like rounds fired from verbal cannons intended to score points. After all, there are correctness points to be won. There's the question of who has the tighter white knuckle death grip on science and I award that sparkling tiara to you Adam. A little gold star goes out to he who finds and effects the correction of a grammatical error with an extra star for the ability to to so with the measure of tact that is at ready disposal of someone so able to express himself, like yourself. Hell, with requisite apologies to Meatloaf, two out of three ain't bad.

Haha. And another sees past the words to the message and the true author. I'm sure the IP address did hurt things.

Well played sir, and point very well taken. I've always respected your intellect and your somewhat superior approach. Thank you for something to reflect upon for the evening. I bid you a goodnight.

See this is what i find complicated, it was you that seemed to have a hard time "looking beyond the words" and now you want to turn around and tell me to look past them?

And for some one as well spoken, or atleast in this case well written as yourself i find it surprising that you would sink to the level of "bitch" and "faggot" remarks. Which didn't bother me at all because it detracted from your argument, and although it didn't bother me, it is strange.
