The conspiracy theory makes more sense than any of the other theories today. For all we know Osama could've been dead even before 9-11. Its ironic how Bush spent like 3 months lookin' for him but then as soon as a good reason to quit came up he latched onto it like a wild dog with a chunk of scavenged meat.

 

I'm not going to engage in conspiracy debunking here...not worth either of our time. But, Even if OBL was dead before 9/11...it still does not negate the fact it was alarge plane and several Islamic nutters..The hunt for OBL has never ended...just been put on the back burner. If it has stopped, as you posit, then we probably should be out of Afghanistan asap.

You should really read the interview. It aired 4 days before the war started. You may find it useful to go back and remember what was said at that moment in history by the Vice-President of the United States. You know, rather than reading a brief on wikipedia 5 and a half years later about it.

 

I was countering your point about the UK and US going against "the rest of the world". You can interprete the "coalation of the willing" as being "rolled over" if you like, but that is not what you said it seemed.

I copied and pasted that segment for ease, not because i'd just read that and not known or thought about what was said at the time etc etc etc.

If you can sit here and say you listened to what was said at the time, understood the issues and came to a conclusion at the time.

I had to work back, because I certainly was not listening to what was being said at the time.
I do appreciate if you don't follow something from the begining, then it is difficult to remember the mood and atmosphere at the time.
But, it is even more difficult to assess the situation when we all drag points out of context and add the "luxury of hindsight".

I'm not sure what you are getting it, or what your point is. Are you saying that I can't remember the words that Dick Cheney said, what Colin Powell told the world, the lies that George Bush was feeding to the American people, or the naïveté of Tony Blair to the House, the skepticisms of Jacques Chirac and his Caucus, and the betrayals of Paul Martin and Bill Graham's commitment to expanding troop forces into Afghanistan.

Don't be offended, but I think my memory of chronoligical events leading up to the war is slightly more accurate than yours, even if you weren't following the events at the time and have "the luxury of hindsight".

I just think you don't remember all the facts or perhaps have overlooked what was actually going on at the time.

And you know, that's the first thing that historians do when they examine events in the past. They go to the primary sources. They read newspapers from that time, diaries, journals, blogs, whatever to recall and date the actual chronology of events. I'm just saying that I don't think you have successfully examined those avenues.
