Just found this lurking on hippy.com (for 18 yrs or so...) A hippy commune! I wanted to post it here, but it won't format properly... Enjoy reading about members from our early daze!
That's great! SlimChance, Bld Matt, Green-Eyed Lady, OldWolf, Sydburnz, Moving Cloud, Chief Cowpie, and of course Pressed Rat. Takes me back....... Thanks, wish we had more.
Yep , Chief Cowpie was the first to respond to my inaugural post in 2004 . Smart-ass . I indeed felt initiated .
You should post my rant from 9/11/01 and see how it contrasts with what I think today. My spelling and grammar was not quite as good back then.... lol... You would all be HIGHLY entertained, and it might even crash the server.
Welcome back, I knew that you would not be able to resist my puns and light hearted comments for much longer. Don't let the idiots (both online and in everyday life) get you down again.
I was such a snotty-ass kid back then... at least online. I used to chew people out on here so much for the shit they would say... lol
No harm in that. Idiots are a dime a dozen on the internet and someone needs to kick their asses now and again. LOL. Over the months, I have taken a lot of time trying to help and advise people with the problems they post. I feel a complete fool when they do not reply, but at least I realize that they are just attention seeking trolls who are making the stories up as they go along, I had one a few days ago, I imagine that the guy has crawled back into the woodwork by now,
I think that was the second incarnation, or maybe third...but I forget. If you find this interesting, you can go to the Internet Wayback Machine and type in hipforum to see more archived pages. Many of the links still work. Here's a page from 1996 HippyLand, not the forums but interesting. I believe this is the earliest existing page of the forums, 1997. Note that you had to email your responses. Most of the links work. Also from 1997. Here's an excerpt: Has anything changed over the years? Here's how I remember it. You can load five different pages at the bottom. Notice Pressed Rat, he was always in the music section, hippiehillbilly, Greeneyed Lady and Sydburnz (all have moved on). I hung around the flashback and Philo forums. Wonder what my posts contained? You can see the evolution of my name. Notice how few responses there were. And there's the old bricklayer, he was the boy on Dutchboy paints. And Old Crone and Tundra Hopper.....ah the good old daze!
actually before my time. but probably not long before. the only two names i recongnize, meagain and old wolf, are, as far as i know, still here. (well skip of course too, obviously) (old chrone also, but i didn't see her mentioned) i sort of think one or both of the 'matt's were still here, but i'm not sure. oh wait, now i remember, there was a 'matt in vagus', but i don't know if he was either of them. occam was my favorite from around the time i furst showed up. i came here for the mellow, and almost completely lost interest when the trolls started showing up. by trolls i mean the anti-mellowness bregade who probably don't or didn't understand how they were. thus was the net, before the non-nerd world discovered it existed. to live to see what was science fiction when i was born, become a past for nostelgia, life is still too short, but i'm glad its been long enough for that.
