I had a thought this weekend. Due to an injury, I'm out and about with one foot/ankle bandaged up. It's just a light wrap, not at all uncomfortable. I don't get asked to leave public places or put on a shoe very often at all, so I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that store employees are more likely to leave you alone if it looks like you have an injury on one foot. It would be a pretty dick move (and potentially one that would open the place to legal action) to ask a hurt person to leave. I'm certain that 99.9% of people wouldn't bother. So if you can't work up the courage to really go places barefoot, give this idea a try and let us know how it works.
