A walk-in is a discarnate entity, in these cases perhaps, souls of the dead that take over the bodies of specific individuals. These individuals have supposedly lost their will to live, or been in a serious accident, or even come back to life after.

These people are more vulnerable to being taken over by an entity so they can use the body to live in the physical world again.

When Snow regressed to his life as the painter, J. Carroll Beckwith, he found the experience so vivid and realistic he began to question what it was. My understanding is that it has increased in popularity at present due to the bestselling books of Dr. Brian Weiss, Dr. Michael Newton, Carol Bowman and others. The process, if properly done by a qualified hypnotherapist, can have physiological and psychological benefits as most ailments seems to have psychosomatic roots in past life traumas, as recorded in the documented case studies of past life regression.

It can also mature a person a lot, as he gains the experience of his past lives as well. The fact that he was a woman in a past life, belonging to an another country, religion, language , race, sexuality and so on can help free his mind by bringing him out of the mental cages of limited identities fostered by present social conditioning.
