How is it determined that these ignorant people give a shit about freedom?

I am not a pollster. But, everyone pursues their good according to their model of good. There is no one who does not care for their own good. If people are going to use such rhetoric, I feel welcome to comment.

Sure, there is no one who does not care for their own good. However, there are people who don't know what is good for them. Do you agree?

Yes and I would say those are on both sides of the acrimonious political dialogue. Stp voiced a frustration in not finding his good so how much can be offered from that stance?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that Stp voiced his frustration at not finding his good . . .

I've look at his posts, and I don't see it.

"Most the time I'm too busy dealing with ignorant Americans who don't give a shit about Liberty."

I just see the federal government as the pyramid of evil. They can kill, steal, and, violate our amendments. And people who fight in their name, a lot of times, go crazy and shoot up a blocks of Iraqi civilians, or rape and murder civilians in other countries.

Put at the same time, more of our soldiers die from suicide than active combat. Shouldn't that say something about the whole premise?

I would hope this message would appeal to everyone's good.

No, I'm asking you what you meant by, "Stp voiced a frustration in not finding his good . . ."

    Some people don't.

It says that soldiers are having a hard time adjusting and we are seeing good protections for soldiers on the battlefield.

We would all like to be liked at some time or another. Your tone has taken on an air of civility and I have no more beef with what you say.

If this is sincerely your hope, then know is counterproductive to berate your target audience.

Duly noted. I'm liked plenty in real life, I feel like people here take me the wrong way. I can definitely be a passive aggressive asshole, but I try not to be. Sometimes, it is difficult though when I feel as though I'm saying the same thing over and over to an essentially.. apathetic audience? And I just care a great deal about the implications of freedom. I was only 12 when 9/11 happened, and I've grown up under this ever increasing, dangerous political structure which takes our freedoms away more and more with time... and really it's- I'm afraid of the government.

I think that's reflected in my posts and perhaps seen as...anger?

    thedope,

That soldiers are committing suicide in record numbers is not primarily an indication of their difficulty in adjusting. It's indicative of their understanding that they are fighting immoral wars in which their heart plays no part. Good protections for soldiers on the battlefield would be leaders who don't use them for cannon fodder to protect their economic interests in bullshit wars. What protections were you referring to, guns or drugs?

Yeah, the circumstance you point out could be something they can't adjust to, among others. Adjustment is an inner conflict or inner apprehension. Still an all volunteer military. You have no evidence that the dichotomy you point out is primarily responsible for suicide. It is the kind of conclusion a moralist might come to in examining the political landscape. An increase in rate suggests a systemic driver but political or moral considerations are not the first thing to look to because such things are individualistic. The common denominator is extended combat deployment. Too few doing too dirty a job.

What good protections are in place for modern soldiers, medivac. Deaths from combat have gone way down because of prompt medical attention.

And I have warmed to you because of this thoughtful reply.

It is one the most frustrating things to care more about peoples well being than they seem to care for their own. People want their fantasies and protest when you try to change the station off of wheel of fortune. It is a measure of maturity to give people their own heads because otherwise you spend your time bashing them.
You misplace your fear or attention. The government represents the interests of people that may even live in your neighborhood. Have you ever driven through suburbia and seen the signs, neighborhood watch?

All civility is precisely equal to your relationship with the person stand next to you. To effect government you need an electoral base and candidates who represent it. On a local level it means establishing community.

However to have a different government we need a different kind of community. Currently or community is heavily invested in common defense.
Government then represents security from common threats. The threats are to the status quo so any effort to change government is treated as a threat.

If our community is healthy it provides a base for reaching out and embracing each other and the world at large, without the suspicion of threat. Just at an economic level a hug costs less than a bullet.

A simple practice that goes a long way to becoming healthy is to be polite in all situations and with all adversaries. Be polite in your own home and with your neighbor. Some of the most demeaning rhetoric springs from members of our own household.

And if you make it your cause to be polite to community then anger won't arise as choice among options to deal with the situation.

Sometimes, some people have a problem with the mode of delivery of information. Usually, those same people offer no information to speak of. These same people usually expose their naive by recommending that people should seek to change the world by using the same system that is the problem; that is, using the mechanism of a flawed and corrupt system to change that very same flawed and corrupt system. Surely you jest.

Your child-like trust in those who represent the people's interest is not healthy.

And by "too few doing too dirty a job," you did mean "too few doing too immoral a job," right?

That is not what I meant, not discounting that mans inhumanity toward man is brutal.

We are naturally protective of those we call our own and as we identify our common bonds we increase our security. To project an enemy makes one vulnerable by definition.

There is nothing immoral about the phenomena you see. Everyone acts quite naturally to uphold their model of good, and resists any perceived threats against it. The only universal morality is the impulse to have our own good. Your level of identification determines how far your protections extend.

Perhaps you didn't notice I said I don't look to the government for information.
Further I stated that all civility is equal to your relationship to the person standing next to you. I trust in the native protections of community.

Your critique of my position is based on your past not mine.

I beat a raccoon to death because it was in the process of killing my chickens in the middle of the night, in the coop.

Storch suggests I was negligent in preparations in guarding against predators.
Storch however did not see the fortifications that were circumvented and does not appreciate that life emerges in unpredictable ways. I have since had no issues with raccoons having learned first hand of their resourcefulness.

The brutal competition emerged spontaneously as a result of my level of identification. Notice I said my chickens.
