You people always talk about the same shit. The Doors, The greatfull dead, bla, bla.
But there were more bands then that.

For example. In holland there was a band that might even be better then the Pink Floyd.
Yhey were known as : Group 1850. supurb psychedelia of the pink floyd and Frank Zappa school.

When I wrote what I did, I was not considering Carlos, more the influences in the texas scene that took place from the early sixties. The Texas Garage Pre-Punk bands had alot to do with the scene and sounds that took place later, setting the stage for Santana to have success with (relatively) mainstream listeners. It was from these roots that sprung groups like 13th Floor Elevators, Janis Jopin, the Winter Bros, Sartori, A440, and many others less known.

As for head to head competition, Carlos use of Latin and Central American rhythms is amazing when noticed. Likewise, the UK has the same in Richard Thompson, who uses the native music of his land in similar ways!

and I dont know why I saw Journey mentioned here, I would have to take points from the american team for making me endure their crappy keyboard riffs!

Otherwise, as for East of the Atlantic vs. West - it looks more and more like a draw.

Then why don't you simply inform us so that we can have a listen? (o_O) Or do you enjoy believing that you possess musical knowledge superior to all others? [IMG]

is not really central america is simply cuban rythem and beat. the most popular latin music comes from cuba, santo domingo, puerto rico. but cuba was the leader the other modified it a bit and fallow behind. Santana early work was 100% cuban. matter of fact only puerto rico was a second and santo domingo was not even in the picture in early 70s. and Santana even tho a mexican knew who was the king of latin beat = cuba .

Its a good choice of country to hate, it'll be one of the first victims of Global Warming so you won't have to hate it much longer. But seriously, I hope you are joking....
