You can dam well bet Bush wouldn't let thousands of people starve to death in downtown Bagdad (where he spent most of America's resources) Bush does what's politically or financially good for himself or cooperate America..the common folks and the rest of the world can kiss his ass. He's an arrogant out of control tyrant and madman
Americans are fucking weird.....half of them scream for help....the other half rip off as many people as possible... just an....odd bunch....
the time for blaming will come right now pepole need water food and shelter instead of running your mouths do somthing open up your homes organize relief efforts what would you do if you were in charge? well geuss what you are in charge of your action or inaction!! so what are you doing?
What am I doing? As a citizen I'm exposing the incompetence of my government...the one I pay taxes to to handle these situations, I did my part, but they let us down because of Bush's personal agenda and greed. It's not my place or responsibility to respond to disasters, it's the presidents...that's what he gets paid to do. What? now I'm suppose to do Bush's job for him too?
the question is....why does anyone except the authorities and charities have to do anything ? (with the exception of raping/looting and fuck knows wot else they have been up to) americans pay taxes.....the american people are amongst the most charitable in the world, of which 90% of the monies they give to charity staying in the US...and america has the hightest technology and the resources that go along with it in the world, by quite a margin.... the money, manpower and resources are there.....i'm sure the american people were under the assumption that any disaster could be [relatively] handled....hell, most of Bush's rhetoric has been about national and individual security post 9/11......and now, this, ill prepared, ill organised and people breaking down law and order for their own personal gain/personal satisfaction.. ....i'd be surprised if any of the world offers to help.....why should they?
I don't get it? Why do you all expect WHITE RICH REPUBLICANS to give a shit about the POOR BLACK PEOPLE who couldn't even get out of town? 25% of New Orleans lived below the poverty level. Nobody in Washington gave a shit before, why should they give a shit now? For people like Bush those "people" don't really exist anyway, they didn't contribute to his campaign, so why make a fuss?
This should be a big wake-up to all Americans that we have been electing piss-poor leadership. Not just at a federal level, but local and state too. We elect people that do not have our best interests at heart, and we are the ones who suffer for it. We need to start taking our responsibility as citizens of this country seriously, and start electing leaders who will benefit the people, and not themselves, because this is the exact outcome we get when we continue to elect aristocrats who's families haven't lived in the real world for generations. They aren't looking out for us. Domestic policy and issues have been sorely neglected. We knew this would be a bad hurricane season before it was even upon us, we were warned by scientists. Where was our leadership when we needed it, before the distasters happened?
This is why I always got along with you so well, because we have the same things in common..How are you? Miss talking with you..or debating (on the same side of course) with you
I might also add: Where are all those 15,000 Nat'l guardsmen they claim are already in the area, huh? I don't see 'em in news reports... Could it be they're guarding the OIL INFRASTRUCTURE, just like Nat'l guard troops are currently doing in Iraq? Could it be they're guarding the interests of big companies like banks, etc., and NOT rescuing those who are DYING at this moment? I don't believe they've actually got that many troops on the ground, and I really doubt they'll ever muster 30,000 troops as they promised. And it's the FIFTH day of this disaster!
The stupid govenor said "we will not tolerate lawbreakers and we'll move in all the troops we need to stop them" HeLLOOOOOO.....so I guess he can tolerate poeple starving to death in the streets....if we have enough troops to enforce the law, then don't we have enough to rescue those people?
they/we dont who do you think makes up those charities?simple answer because pepole need help and every little bit helps!! its called being humane!
I've nothing against the formation of charities....my point is that the resources (wether charitable, federal or public) were already there......wot's missing is anyone with enough braincells to implement those resources efficeintly.....and a population of New Orleans with enough braincells to not shoot/rape/loot to their hearts content and concentrate on those able to help those struggling, do so. If America (the richest country in the world) can't effectively organsie aid in one of it's own cities....both practical and financial aid....and the american public start farkin' shooting at both charity workers and their own authorities....where is the impetus for anyone else to help them?
They are not in the news as of yet..because the more 'eventful' stuff is happening such as looting people shouting their heads off .. explosions etc etc .. people getting rescued 'human interest' is not as 'headline grabbing'.
How many of you really know where your tsunami aid goes to ? It is put to dubious uses One of which is enticing people to convert to christianity All of you who are contributing to christianity affiliated tsunami organisations are just helping sow the seeds of religious discord If you don't believe me go ask your pope who keeps a tab on conversions and refer to his recently made public statement that declared that the church is reaping a grand harvest of souls in south asia
Several blogs are reporting an exchange between a Fox News Channel reporter and a New Orleans man-on-the-street during Hurricane Katrina coverage this morning: SHEPARD SMITH: You’re live on FOX News Channel, what are you doing? MAN: Walking my dogs. SMITH: Why are you still here? I’m just curious. MAN: None of your fucking business. SMITH: Oh that was a good answer, wasn’t it? That was live on international television. Thanks so much for that. You know we apologize.
i agree with you that the response was late in coming and totaly bungeld at the begining! what im trying to say is this will be an ongoing crises! i expect that the reports of rape are prob. no more than what would happen on any givin day! the looting i would expect a lot of it is of a survivel nature. so heres the gig alot of these charitable org. need volenteers to help with sorting and loading of donations! when i hear things like why should i. or its not my responsability. it makes me sick! i understand not everyone is able to help. but statements like that in my mind put that person on the same level as the theivs and rapists and yes dubya and his cronies!! i see that your in the uk and understand that for you to physicly volenteer is not possible and this is not nessicarily directed at you!! peace!!
Yes, I am just an observer.......and yes, it is easy to be critical when yer sat on the other side of the atlantic, in a safe home. Peace, be well
