A friend/romantic interest got me to watch it, I didnt know what to think...but I ended up loving it. Very cool to see the scenery of Paris after having spent almost a week there on my backpacking trip through Europe.

I'm afraid I have to repeat what everyone else said...that it's an absolutely WONDERFUL movie and I've fallen in absolute love with it. I've seen it twice, once with my ex and once with the French club at my school, and loved it both times. I want to try to buy it.

ah...romance, quirkiness, the things life throws at you that you can become bitter about or turn into lemonade... I loved it.

It took me years before I finally watched Amelie. I remember about... at least 3 years ago when I was watching TV and saw a commercial for it, and the commercial freaked me out! I mean, when she frowns in the cafe and bursts into water and when the pig lamp grabs the light string and turns out the light, and all those see-the-persons-heart things, I didn't really see what it was about, and I remember looking at the box in the movie store with Amelie's pale face and that eerie smile and it honestly freaked me out.

But then, after seeing "The Da Vinci Code" this May, I saw just how good of an actress Audrey Tautou is and I began studying French. I did some research, and actually watching the trailers for Amelie again, I began to go, "Huh."

Finally, I rented it at Blockbuster and I fell in love. It was so amazing, because I can relate so well. I love how she reaches out to help people, and how touching it is when they get what they truly need out of life -- the woman on the first floor just needs to know her husband loved her, the man in the cafe had to know his work was appreciated, her father just needed a little nudge towards freedom, the old man saw the world for the first time in the three seconds she helped him down the street... it was breathtaking, really.

I bought the DVD and watch it at least once a month. :p And that's my story.

I love it, especially the mystery of the bald guy's photobooth pictures. Also the orgasm part near the beginning was kinda funny.

ehhhh...My gf being from france said I haddddd to watch it cause she looooves it.

it was okay. it was a love story...yay....I mean, I knew she was shy but the movie REALLY drove that point home way to much (we geeet it) and I felt the pacing was a little off because of it.

I enjoyed the humor part..especially many of the scenes in that little cafe...the scene where she makes the dude chase her..though overly fairly tale like, was rather interesting.

my gf pointed to certian points on her face a few times a few weeks later before I got what she was doing..cute, heh.

I would NEVER watch Amelie with dubbing. Would just ruin it!

i love this movie, it is one of my top 15 definitely. there was another movie with the same actress and director, it was really good i just can't remember the name. was a war/love story.

Amelie is definitely one of my most favourite movies. I'm naturally whimsical and this movie made me even more so! It has this wonderful fairy-tale thing about it that is not cheesy. And the director is top class. Jeunet is breathtakingly talented. The soundtrack complements this movie perfectly. In fact, I think the movie will most of its charm without its music. I have both the DVD and the soundtrack. I have watched movie for the proverbial "umpteenth" time now, and still enjoy it. The soundtrack is equally wonderful as it reminds me of the feelings I had when I watched the movie. Never has any other movie had such an effect on me.

Jinx, the other movie you are looking for is Un long dimanche de fiançailles [A Very Long Engagement] which is trademark Jeunet with all the romance, the cinematography and another lush beautiful soundtrack.

I adore this movie! The background music is absolutely brilliant, and I feel the movie wouldn't have as much magic without it. Of course the visuals, the plot and everything about Amelie is way above the average movie today. And for some reason, every time I watch this movie, I end up feeling really high off life
