Yeah, that's the one thing nobody ever told me when I was expecting my oldest son. That breastfeeding wasn't always as easy as it looked! I had a really difficult time getting my oldest son to latch properly, and ended up with insanely sore and bloody nipples. I would actually sit there and cry while he nursed because it hurt so bad. Let me tell you, that lanolin ointment was my best friend then. Babies and sleep schedules, ah, fun. It will take a while before she settles into a routine, and I won't lie, you're going ot be tired, but just remember, it WILL get better. I promise! Do you wear her when she's fussy? That always helped us when our kids were fussy. I'd strap them on me and go about my business. They loved it. I actually bought another carrier when I was pregnant with the twins so that my husband could wear one baby and I could wear the other. Those things were lifesavers for us.
Don't worry, you're making enough milk. It took me 2 weeks to get the hang of bf, I kept wanting to give up before that...hang in there! Pay no attention to the amount you can pump, I had a ton of milk and could not pump for shit. It isn't meant to be pumped, the baby has the best equipment for getting it out. DON'T GIVE HER FORMULA!!!!! It will cause your milk supplies to go away. BF is supply and demand, when she needs more, she will want to nurse more and your body will make more.
I plan to do this with Sophia. I like the ones from kangaroo Korner, I want to get something like this.
That looks great! I'm telling you, that's the one thing that I don't think I could have lived without. My carriers. Best thing ever!
Amelia HATES her carrier. Well the lactation consultant told me we had to supplement! I do feed her from the breast and she latches on properly and I went through the bloody/painful nipple phase.... I just hope tomorrow when I go back for her weight check they will tell me I am making enough milk for her! She eats 2-3oz of formula AFTER eating 15 minutes from me! She is getting so chunky! Haha. Amelia went from 7lbs 8 oz last Thursday to 8lbz 4 oz on Monday! She has an amazing night routine. We do bath night every two nights... her skin is so dry.... and she nurses, eats formula and asleep by the latest of 10:30.... she will sleep five hours and then eat again sleep for three more hours and then get up again! Its her daytime routine that is a little screwy.... she wakes up at 8am and then won't go down for a nap until now...1pm... but she is fighting sleep the whole time! I am surprisingly not tired... when John gets home he takes the baby and I get time to myself to shower and do whatever for a few minutes and during the day I get to get a few things done... I wish someone would have said.... breastfeeding is hard. I just assumed it would be easy for Amelia and I. ESPECIALLY since she latches on so well!!! She is a lazy nurser and naps! And thanks for the congrats on the baby.... we are in total love.
Oh and here are some newer pictures from last week! http://www.************/home.php#/album.php?page=1&aid=2310921&id=12328590
Oh, I do hope when I have a kid he/she has the same night routine. Because I pretty much sleep in intervals like that anyway!
Oooh girl, you're lucky with that sleep schedule! And I thought I had it easy when my oldest was sleeping like that at almost 2 months old. Took the twins a bit longer, but... That's great that she's sleeping so well for you already! It makes all the difference, you know? I'm surprised she hates her carrier! Oh well, different babies, different temperments. My kids' "bewitching" (most cranky/fussy) hours were from 4:00 PM-about 7:00 PM. Never failed!
She is fussy 11-1... never fails for me either! I think tomorrow I want to buy a sling that wraps around me more. I think she doesn't enjoy being so far down into the sling.... And yes her sleeping this well already makes us being new parents easy! We feel so blessed. John does diapers in the middle of the night and never complains even though he works and lets me have me time when he gets home.... I feel so lucky. Amelia makes being a mommy seem easy... I hope our second will be this easy. Haha
Check www.kangarookorner.com They have lots and they're pretty and you even one style you can wear in more than one way. I hope I have baby that sleeps well too , congratulations again. Im happy and a little jealous that you already get to play with your baby girl.
I am going to go to Babies R' Us soon and pick one out. I don't have time to order one and then wait until it comes... Having a baby that sleeps well makes life great. She slept until 10am today! And is down for a nap again... I can't say how happy I am, it is a feeling that is indescribable. Haha, not much playing happens right now but when she looks at me with her beautiful blue eyes... it amazes me.
