I loved Juno. It was fantastic. Ellen Page always seemed very down to earth to me, and I can't help but love watching her act with that in mind.
Are you fucking kidding me? She was a little fucking space cadet who's actions had little consequence on her life when in reality that is a completely life altering set of circumstances. And the way that everybody around her handled it was equally unrealistic. I've seen better acting in a Lifetime Original Movie. Peace Out, Rev J
Every movie with that kid in it is garbage. Superbad was good, but that's cause everyone except him was funny. He's just piopular cause these retarded emo girls think he's cute. I think he looks like a retarded emo girl.
I liked juno, personally. I think the way the characters responded to the situation was completely unrealistic, but thats the point. A heavy situation was downplayed for comedic effect. If they responded in a realistic way, it really would be a bad lifetime movie. I also liked the dialogue and the slang. Thats generally how people, especially teenagers, talk for the most part. When i was in high school I constantly used slang. Hell, i'm 25 and I still use slang like its going out of style when I'm talking with my friends. We have our own language and it definitely doesn't involve proper and correct english. Michael Cera or whatever his name is does get on my nerves. That is one part of the movie that bothered me; his character wasn't given a lot of depth and I didn't think they did a good job of explaining the attraction between his character and Juno. But overall, the movie engaged me and made me laugh and thats all i really ask of a comedy.
I walked out of the theater half way through Juno. First time in my life I've done that. Absolutely terrible movie.
I thought it was okay and I saw it because of the teenage pregnancy thing. I related to it. As well as the adoption in it. But.. yeah, although I can tolerate the movie, I cannot even IMAGINE being around people who talk like that.
After seeing how bad Juno was and seeing Ellen Page every time I turned on the TV I just can't bring myself to watch any other movies she's been in. Like I said I loved the show Regenesis. The problem is I can't find it on DVD in the states. And she had a tiny ass role on the show as a cute little Goth Chick. I think the reason she stood out in Juno is because she was less of a crap actor than the rest of the cast. That and like I said she was largely unknown in the US at the time. I agree with Sam about Michael Cerra. Superbad was a fucking fantastic movie in spite of him. I think Jonah Hill really made that movie for me. Peace Out, Rev J
It wasn't the fact that she used slang that I'm criticizing it is that it was the most moronic slang that I've ever heard. It sounded like it was written by someone who was damn near 40 trying write like she was 15. Then the talentless hack 15 year old who was the star imitating the clueless 40 year old reading it to her. It didn't make me laugh at all. The way they hyped the slang in that movie reminds me of the way the hyped the slang in Clueless. And I found both movies equally moronic. Peace Out, Rev J
