Okay. Well. I have like 190 posts and you pointed out like, 20 that were "less than desirable". We're not all perfect angels all the time. Now I understand I probably hurt someone's feeling so they decided to whine to the moderators about it so they can get me banned and cross their arms in satisfaction, but really I've seen all the mudslinging that goes on around here and I really don't feel I've been out of line. I'm sure if I had 19,000 posts it wouldn't even be an issue, but then again, who cares.

In the future I'll try not to hurt anyone's feelings. But I can't make any promises since, as I'm a man of character, I have to be true to myself regardless if it hurts someone's feelings on the Internet, of all places.

Hurting peoples' feelings is inevitable. Aiming to do so is another thing. It's almost five and I'm late to my gym. My legs need their weekly workout and I'll need all weekend for them to recover before I'm on my feet for ten hours Monday. This "dirty hippie" has his own gym and intends to make good use of it! My thighs don't need any work. They're muscular enough as it is. My arms are still sore from all my plyometric pushups. Some beer and Irish carbombs will make it feel all better!

 

Okay, I'll admit that people get carried away, but the point is, most people come on here and say "this is wrong," which is perfectly fine, but a lot of times, it's accompanied with "and you're a moron/degenerate/stupid hippie if you believe otherwise." Naturally, we're going to debate, if we disagree, especially since it's now turned into a personal attack. Plus, I've seen plenty of people say "this is wrong" and only that. They say there's something wrong with you if you don't think so, "because it's just ew" or something like that. I've seem some strange moderating, but never any where a mod just said "That's not hippie!" and deleted it... at least not with any regularity.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Right and wrong are relative. Oh yes they are. The most BASIC THINGS that SHOULD BE ENFORCED BY LAW are the ones that are for our personal safety. That's what I meant by they should be based on safety. If we're going to regulate them with laws, they should be based on a certain standard, not subject to the next governor or congressman's whim. As for REAL morals and decency, they vary from person to person. Should nudists have their colonies closed and be thrown in jail because some people think nudity is "indecent"? Morals cannot be regulated because you will never get a group of people that willingly agree on every one of them.

My logic is not flawed. I specifically said that safety should be of utmost importance and sleeping with a child falls under that category... for the psychological safety of the kid, this should remain against the law. As far as this argument goes, I would take being raised by my mother alone than deal with the constant bitterness, fighting, and tension that went on in my family before my parents were separated. I believe if I had kept on in this situation, I would be a lot worse off than I am now. I was raised by a single mother, as were most of my friends. I'm currently a biomedical major in the middle of the last semester of my senior year. My best friend, also raised by a single mother, is a music major going to school to be a teacher and also manages to keep a job and an apartment.
Statistics don't show the whole story. There are a number of factors to consider. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never seen this in action. As far as I could see, it was mostly the well-to-do kids that got whatever they wanted that ended up in trouble with the law (but of course, they never had the book thrown at them... why? Because Daddy owns City Hall!).

Yes, fuck traditions. Fuck the ones that put people down and make them feel like shit, because that's called oppression and does NOT keep society strong, unless those parts that fit your perfect cookie-cutter world are the only ones that matter. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but our wellbeing should be the only thing on our minds- not making America into suburbia, making everyone believe the same things and making them feel like freaks if they don't.

Right and wrong are relative? That's a very nihilistic approach to life.

Nudists should not have their colonies closed down. I, for one, would be very sad to see entire populations of naked people wiped off the face of the Earth. But at the same town, the nudists are just where they should be; in colonies, away from people who don't want to deal with that shit.

Yes, our wellbeing should be the first thing on our minds. And for societies wellbeing, we need to build strong, healthy and supportive families, not welfare mommies raising their kids all by themselves and letting them run rampant.

Judging from what you've told me about yourself, you come from a middle class family. Why are middle-class families always going on and on about oppression? If anything, you're spoiled.

Fuck THE ONES that hurt people. Did you read my post or just skim it? I'm not saying all of them are bad. I'm not saying some of them shouldn't be celebrated. I'm not even saying I don't practice them. I'm just saying that the ones that aren't necessary don't need to be enforced by the people looking to keep everything that's unorthodox out of the picture.
