Am I a Libertarian?

    Teaching and learning a second language takes up valuable time. If it is forced upon schools, it will affect students studying to become doctors or engineers.
    Here in the UK, we are surrounded by countries who speak other languages, so even with arts students who may benefit from a second language, Which one do they choose.

    PS, assuming that this thread started in the US, what is the bi in bilingual in North America,?...... Spanish.???

    Yes, there is only English French and Spanish spoken here with Brazil throwing in Portuguese for South America

    Their was a lobby in the UK a few years ago, that wanted Chinese taught as the second language here.
    While it made a degree of sense, the vast majority of younger people in China are taught English at school. Also, it is mostly the only second language taught in India and Africa.
