You're being absurd. I don't choose one over the other for equality, otherwise how would it be equality? Don't make some random comparison to 1984, that has nothing to do with what you quoted me on.



1) You are making illogical ties to a science fiction book in which a totalitarian government controls everything. There is no connection here. I have taken a course in logic, what exactly was illogical about what I said?

2) You think I'm desperate for some pathetic "in" with the feminists at my school which is completely not true. I wanted to show my support for the feminist ideals. Is it so impossible that here on a hippy forum a man would actually believe that oppressing anyone is wrong? I should hope not.

3) You obviously like to inflate your ego by putting others down on internet forums. You should take a psychology class and find out whats making you feel compelled to do this.

Okay, when in the HELL, did I say I hate women? Huh? I didn't. I never said that.
What I was implying, is that femenism no longer has a place. Sexism is no longer a normal viewpoint among the populace. Women have every right a man has. They can serve in the military, own businesses, property, and do anything a man can. There isn't a job that a man can get, that a woman can't. There isn't a thing a man can buy, that a woman can't. Men can vote, and so can women. Both genders have equal rights.
Modern femenism is generaly, made up of women whom hate men, for their own (insert "stupid" when needed) reasons, and have gone so far as to call for the annihilation of the human male. I'm not saying that all femenists are like that. I was being sarcastic.
But femenism is a lost cause now, when women in the forties-sixties set out and became femenists, it was good. But now, they have achieved that, and have for many, many years. Femenism is a useless practice now.
But please, stop me if I'm wrong.
And I hope that clears things up for people. I am not, by any reasonable judgement, sexist, or judgemental on women, solely because of gender.

Where I come from ...women are not given equal rights....

Well, let's see. I don't feel safe walking alone at night, or going to a show at night by myself. I can't travel safely alone after dark. Does that sound fair?

The only job I have ever had where I wasn't sexually harrassed was working in preschools- where there were no men.

I was training a guy once to wash dishes at a restaurant and he said that we could go to upstairs and I could give him a blowjob. Like it was some kind of privelidge. When I repeatedly told him that it was never going to happen and he wouldn't knock it off, I complained to my boss. My boss (a man) thought it was funny. He admired that kid for going after what he wanted. He literally patted him on the back. I was 17 years old.

At another job, the conservation corps, I was one of only 3 women in my rank living at a base. A coworker who I thought was my friend tried to force me to have sex with him.(I only got him to stop finally by convincing him I was on my period- a lie.) When I told my male coworkers who I thought were my good friends what had happened they said that I had to understand that he had been living on the base for 6 months and really needed to get laid. That wasn't part of my job description.

Those are just 2 personal examples (out of many). Men are raped sometimes, which is deplorable, but it doesn't happen every 3 seconds like it is said to in the U.S.

I have to think of men differently in a way for my own safety because they have done things like raped my friends. So, no, we're not really equal yet.

And to say that feminism is dead is just ignorant. It's a global effort, and a continuing effort.

I just took a women's studies class, and it also defined feminism as your definition from the dictionary. The idea of Feminism does not mean man hating at all, just equal rights for all. I find your ideas extremely admirable and beautiful.
