I hardly ever wash my hair. When I stopped washing it, it was just about a week of greasy hair, and then it just cleaned itself up. If you don't brush your hair, it really doesn't look or feel dirty. Whenever I do wash it, I just use cold water.

Our hair isn't made to have to use anything apart from water to clean it.

We live in a world of contaminants.

A little soap once and a while is a good thing, unless you like getting organic buildup in your hair and the tiny livestock that follow.

i have been using baking soda for a wash and a/c vinegar for a conditioner. there was a transitional period for me but i love it ! i would never go back to store bought shampoo! oh yes and i found you have to experiment with how much baking soda or a/c vinegar you use to suit your own hair but once you find the right mix , it's the best!!! i also use ac vinegar for my facial rinse as well.

I've used Dr. Bronner's liquid soap to wash my hair a few times. I don't know if there's supposed to be a transitional period until it starts working, but my hair got so gross and sticky and oily that I chickened out and went back to normal shampoo. Vinegar or lemon juice would probably help that a little.
My friend, who has lovely dreadlocks, uses nothing but Dr. Bronner's and it works very well for her. It probably depends on hair type.

I used Dr Bronners for a long time with good results... with and without dreads.

Lately I've just been lathering up my scalp with tea tree oil/veggie based bar soap and it's working out pretty fantastic.
Makes me happy to know I'm working my way closer to never supporting the petrochemical industry.

i tried the baking soda thing for a while but i never know if its actually working. and my hair gets kinda crappy sooner than my previous technique- olive oil and a bit of shampoo. i want to keep using olive oil but i would like an alternative to the drop of shampoo i use to get the oil out. any ideas?
